If you have ever felt conflicted about current interior design trends- then this post is for you! 🤔🫵

Minimalistic design has been a huge influence to modern interior design- and not without good reason!
Minimalism exists with basic principles of creating clean, calming and functional spaces- perfect for returning to after a busy, long and stressful day. Soft lighting, neutral colours and hidden storage make spaces feel tranquil and avoid adding to the overstimulated atmosphere our brain frequently experiences. For us at Studio K, when staging homes minimalist design allows buyers to see a space designed without getting too distracting or using colours and styles that may be off-putting to some.

Then, resurfaced maximalism.
While most of the design world has been embracing the minimalist aesthetic, viral videos have started to pop up in the 2020’s of loud, bright and busy spaces full of personality and self expression.

Why the shift?
Like most things- not everything is for everybody. Collectors and artists enjoy displaying their collections and art with a cohesive colour palette and thought into the design and story of their spaces. Keeping the room unique to their personal preferences, it may not be for everyone, but it creates joy, energy and character for its creator.
