These flour and sugar stoneware crocks likely date to the 1930s, when sturdy pantry storage was beginning to be made a little more decorative. Their warm cream glaze, handled crock shape and bold black transfer printed lettering with Victorian inspired scrollwork are characteristic of the period. Similar English examples from the 1930s were made as coordinated pantry sets for everyday staples such as flour, sugar, tea and coffee
