I have a little project I’ve been dreaming about for over a year and have been working on the past few weeks. I’m finally bringing it to life, and I’m so excited to share it with you — but I really need your help to make it work.

I believe in it enough, i think it deserves its own page, so I hope you’ll take a moment to click the link below and check it out.

If you like what you see, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could:

• Follow the new page and if you know of others who might be interested, please share the page link, NOT this post.
• Help me keep this as anonymous as possible: Please don’t tag “Nana’s Treasures” or me personally in any shares or posts on the new page. Let’s keep this a fun secret between friends 🤫
• Steal this idea: Seriously. Make it your own. If you want help starting something similar, message or email me. I’d love to help.

Thank you for being part of this. ❤️

I always have several projects on the go, but I’m most excited to share a sneak peek of my personal favorite — a one-of-a-kind collection of tree ornaments for an incredibly special girl turning 9 next month. I’ve been adding the finishing touches to this project, and another one I can’t wait to show you. It won’t be long now!

My Sunday started with a big family breakfast and a relaxing visit afterward. Grandkids really do brighten your day. The rest of today is for the craft room, then more relaxing.

Hope your day’s been wonderful too. I’d love to hear what made it special for you.

My day started at 3:30 a.m. with a coffee mug placed upside down on my Keurig, followed by a coffee-fall gushing across my counter and onto the floor.

My workday was fast-paced, busy, and hectic, but made so much better by the wonderful group of people I call coworkers. We’ve perfected teamwork and get through the day with dedication, purpose and a sense of humour that keeps me going.

I came home and put the finishing touches on a cute little tree ornament, custom-made for someone who has always supported my crafting endeavors. I made a beef pot pie, tackled a few long-overdue household chores, and brainstormed for a couple of hours on a project I’m very eager to share with all of you. Stay tuned.

When your day starts off crazy, how do you level out and calm yourself down? Who do you turn to for support, and what do you do to salvage the day and find peace and purpose?

This little guy is a proud Nova Scotian and loves his hometown.
The image is decoupaged onto a clear plastic ball, which has been painted and accented with clay, vinyl and tartan fabric.
This design is easily customized to honour any hometown and/or province.
What makes you proud to be from Nova Scotia, and what do you love best about your hometown, wherever it may be?

This piece was inspired by a glass cutting board I saw on Amazon back in early December 2025. Surprisingly, I didn’t order it. I had just started experimenting with small resin pours, and the lightbulb came on.

I envisioned a serving tray instead of a cutting board and wanted to capture the magical, festive sights and smells of a Christmas kitchen.

I received a large rectangular silicone mold and giant jugs of epoxy resin for Christmas. I enthusiastically gathered and prepped the remaining supplies… then proceeded to postpone this project for almost five months. 😳🤣

As a novice resin pourer, I was nervous about tackling such a large and costly piece. Earlier this week I decided it was time and dove in headfirst with my fingers crossed.

Resin pouring definitely comes with a learning curve. Looking back, there are a few things I would do differently. There are flaws, but overall I’m pleased with the results and will definitely make another one.

Your turn:
What’s a project, hobby, or recipe you thought about for days, weeks, or months before finally trying it? Were you pleased with how it turned out?

💬 I’d love to hear your stories below!

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌹

05/09/2026

Creativity takes so many shapes and forms.
As Mother’s Day approaches, I want to take the the time to give a shout out to my daughter, Samantha Lewis.
I’ve always hoped she would pick up a scrap of fabric or lump of clay and feel the same excitement as I do with such things, and the unlimited possibilities to create.
Alas, pretty Christmas tree ornaments, frivolous crafts and quilts aren’t her thing, but she’s still found a way to be creative and carry on a long standing family tradition of making things.
She bakes bread on the same level as her great and great-great grandmothers . . . way better than I can. She has taken countless pounds of lumpy, stinky beef fat and made amazing skin care products . . . something I’d never even attempt.
With the same zest and passion I put into my crafts, she is currently raising chickens, planning a garden and carving out a little piece of self sufficient paradise for herself and her family. She’s incredibly creative but in a much more practical way than I.
Most importantly, she is raising my three grandchildren and doing it well.
Cheers to Samantha and other young women like her who have found a way to weave these “ old time ” pursuits into the tapestry of modern life and do it well.
Happy Mother’s Day to my daughter and all of you wonderful moms out there. ❤️

Last Sunday I attended a baby shower for a very dear coworker who is expecting a baby girl in June.
Every baby needs a “First Christmas” tree ornament, and, when that baby has an older brother, he needs a special tree ornament, too.
I tucked these inside a little basket full of new baby essentials and it makes me happy to know these little ones will have these for years to come.
These were made from clear plastic balls, painted, decoupaged and adorned with clay accents and vinyl decals.

Grandmothers’ houses are almost always full of treasures. In every nook and cranny, there are things that capture our imaginations and utterly captivate us.

The house pictured belonged to my great-grandmother, Addie Crowell, in S**g Harbour, Nova Scotia. I’m not sure what year this photo was taken, but it was long before this house became such a cherished childhood memory. I remember it in color: a white house with a blue tin roof. What a wonderful place it was to explore!

These are just a few things I vividly remember from my summer visits: a German weather station on top of the fridge, an Aunt Jemima toaster cover in the pantry, and a miniature wishing well in the front parlour made of seashells and popsicle sticks. Maybe it was small rocks… my aunts, Penny Simms and Kathy Crowell Jenner, can probably set that straight. I just know I was fascinated by it.

In another wonderfully old house in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, N.S., I explored and scavenged relentlessly. My grandmother Faye Crowell had a button collection and a tartan-covered cardboard box full of old family photos. Both kept me occupied for hours. She had scraps of fabric and the patience to teach a young girl how to quilt. There was a card table set up in the living room where I sat with a typewriter and published my own little newspaper, Jodi’s Journal. There was even a kitchen drawer that, inexplicably, held band-aids, rubber gloves, and mini marshmallows. As a kid, I loved all of them equally. 🤷‍♀️

All of these things are just the tip of the iceberg.

What are your fondest memories of your grandmother’s house? What were you drawn to the most? What left an impact on you?

Hi everyone! This page has been in the works forever because I kept procrastinating. I just wasn’t comfortable with my initial plan , which was just to sell my handcrafted items. I’m still open to that, so if you see something you love, reach out. But I want this to be more.

If you read my bio, you know what I love and what I do. And if you’re still here, we probably have at least one thing in common. My hope is that we can get to know each other and build a little group of like-minded folks who share, support, inspire, and encourage one another.

Let’s chat about our kids, grandkids, and pets. Let’s reminisce, swap recipes, talk about our favourite songs and hobbies. Let’s share photos of what we’ve made and ideas for what to make next. Let’s choose kindness and positivity in a world that can feel unkind sometimes.

Why “ Nana’s Treasures” ?
The name is a nod to my greatest treasures: my three grandchildren, Shelby, Charleigh, and Jameson.

It also honors my two grandmothers, whose homes were full of wonderful things that sparked my curiosity and creativity.

And, finally, it’s my hope that the things I create become someone else’s treasures, bringing back that same magical feeling I had in my grandmothers’ houses, looking at all the wonderful things.

Thanks for stopping by. Welcome!
