Something we've been working on quietly — and it's almost ready to share.

This is a rendering from one of our custom home design plans inside the Paige Elizabeth Home & Cottage Catalog. A curated collection of thoughtfully designed homes and cottages built for the way people actually live in Muskoka and the GTA.

This dining room — wainscoting, botanical wallpaper above the rail, the mix of seating around that oak table — is the kind of space that takes a house and makes it feel like it was always meant to be yours.

The catalog is coming soon. If you're planning a new build or a major renovation and want to be the first to know, keep following along for our official release!

Before you hire an interior designer, ask these 5 questions:

1. Do you offer full project management, or design only?
(At Paige Elizabeth, we handle both — from concept to construction coordination.)

2. How do you handle budget conversations?
(Honestly and early. Surprises don't serve anyone.)

3. Who do I actually communicate with day-to-day?
(You'll always be working directly with me.)

4. What does your process look like from first call to completion?
(We'll walk you through it before you commit to anything.)

5. Can you show me projects similar to what I'm envisioning?
(Yes — and we'll be honest if your vision needs refinement.)

A great designer will welcome every one of these questions.

(And yes — I'm happy to answer all of them. DM me or visit the link in bio.)

The Fish Lake Project — North Muskoka.

This one holds a special place. North Muskoka has a particular quality of light — softer, more forested, with a wildness that urban properties simply don't have.

The design had to honour that.

Natural materials. Grounded palette. Spaces that feel earned rather than styled.

The result is a home that will look right in twenty years the same way it looks right today.

That's what timeless means to us.

Completed: The Oakfield Project — Etobicoke.

The brief was a home that felt rooted and refined — somewhere between collected and considered, without tipping into fussy.

Every finish was chosen to age beautifully. Every room was designed to be lived in, not just looked at.

I became a designer because of a feeling I couldn't shake.

Growing up, my sister and I rearranged rooms the way other kids played outside — it was just who we were. My father, a graphic designer and artist, hand-painted rope details and raised panelling directly onto my bedroom walls, with florals pulled from the exact fabric of my bedding and roman shades my mother made by hand. She was deep into the faux finishing world of the 90s — plaster, stencils, sponge work — and she did all of it herself. Together, they didn't just decorate. They thought about how a space should truly resonate with the person living in it. I was called "little Martha" as a child, and looking back now, I can see it was imprinted in me early — the antiques, the artwork, the care. I have my parents to thank for that. And I love that it's all circled back in the work I do today.

That feeling — of a space that feels entirely, quietly like itself — is what I strive to recreate for every client I work with.

Paige Elizabeth Interiors was built on one belief: your home should feel like you. Not a trend. Not a showroom. You.

I'm Paige Groomes — Principal Designer and Owner, Sheridan College honours graduate, with 15 years of design experience, and someone who genuinely loves the process as much as the result.

If your home hasn't felt like yours in a while, let's change that.

The most common colour mistake in Muskoka cottages?

Going too light.

Pale greys and cool whites look beautiful in a magazine — but in a north-facing cottage surrounded by dark pines and granite, they read cold, flat, and disconnected from the landscape.

What works instead: warm taupes, aged linens, weathered wood tones, and stone-inspired neutrals that hold heat in the light and depth in the shadow.

Your cottage should feel like a refuge — not a showroom.

Have you fallen into the grey trap? Tell me below. ↓

The rule every Muskoka cottage should follow — and when to break it.

"Bring the outside in."

It sounds simple. But most cottages get it backwards: they choose interiors first, then try to connect them to the landscape.

Here's how we do it differently at Paige Elizabeth:

→ We start with the view. What trees, water, or rock is this room speaking to?

→ We pull one or two natural tones directly from that landscape into the palette.

→ We leave breathing room — not every surface needs to "do" something.

The result is a space that feels like it grew there. Not decorated.

When do we break the rule? When a client's personality calls for contrast — a bold, graphic interior that makes the wilderness outside feel more dramatic by comparison.

That tension? It works beautifully.

Save this if you're planning a cottage build or reno this year. 🤍

The reality of a custom kitchen? It’s an investment — and one that deserves clarity from day one.

We’ve broken it down for you, and the truth is: a thoughtfully designed, custom kitchen today typically lands between $150K–$225K depending on scope, materials, and level of customization.

Where that investment *really* pays off isn’t just in the finishes you see — it’s in the decisions you don’t have to second guess.

From layout planning and millwork detailing to appliance integration and lighting, every choice has a ripple effect on both cost and function. Without a clear plan, small missteps can quickly turn into expensive changes, delays, or compromises.

That’s where a designer becomes invaluable — guiding the process from day one, aligning your vision with your budget, and preventing costly mistakes before they happen.

Because a well-designed kitchen isn’t just beautiful — it’s intentional, efficient, and built to last.
