Heck yeah to pink on brown! A closed form lidded jar that I was able to throw with a handle in one piece! I was also shocked and amazed, AND I have not yet been able to do this again, but I will persist. Also.. I've only tried on 2, but are there any clay bodies that Power Turquoise doesn't look good on?

When I started ceramics for the 3rd time at Fairview Studios, I imagined my style would be more like this. Rich and dark exposed clay with simple glazes. Clean, calm, grounded, and earthy.

It's in contrast to the part of me that likes to create with busy, bolder colors, texture, and imagery. The glazes and transfers I like and am used to using wouldn't work as well on this clay, so I needed to try something different.

This vase was a failed attempt at a closed form, and I never would have made a shape like this otherwise. No matter how hard I tried to close it, I couldn't make it happen. It's different from what I intended, but I really like the accidental learning that happens in ceramics. I decided to use it to practice carving something -anything- for the first time. It's heavy AF though, and could second as a dumbbell or paperweight.
