Swapping roller shades for drapery on a two-story window changes the whole room. Roller shades are clean and stack out of sight, but they read hard. A ripple-fold sheer on custom bend motorized tracks softens the light, keeps the view, and moves 20 feet of fabric with one button press. On glass this tall, motorization is not a nice-to-have — nobody is climbing a ladder twice a day to draw sheers.

Roller shades on tall windows live or die by the brackets. If they're not dead level, the fabric telescopes — walks to one side a little more every time you roll it down. The fix isn't fancy: a level, careful marks, and a test roll before you call it done.

On a dual-channel rod, the sheer and the drape glide independently — filtered daylight without giving up daytime privacy, then full privacy at night. Layering also adds insulation at the window, which matters on cold Calgary nights.

Two clever ways to control light in one home. ☀️

Sheer shadings suspend soft fabric vanes between two sheer layers — tilt them open for filtered daylight that still protects furniture and floors from UV, tilt them closed for privacy. And the Duolite Duette stacks two honeycomb fabrics in a single headrail: a light-filtering sheer on top, a semi-opaque fabric below — shift between them for flexible light control through the day. Those honeycomb cells also trap air, making it one of the most energy-efficient shade designs out there.
