The right material palette doesn’t just tell a story, it forms an environment.

Inspired by the masterful texture and lasting quality of a great wool sweater, this palette evokes the profound sensory shift of a seasonal change. The feeling of retreating to a well-appointed home as the world outside yields to the quiet drama of early winter.

The palette is a carefully curated search for deep greens, smoky granite and the patina of legacy leather hides, anchored by the necessary lightness of winter cream and plush textiles. This is not mere coziness; it is fortitude. The clever layering inherent in an active, outdoor life, but brought indoors.

It is the material expression of a moment: perfectly insulated, wrapped in warmth, observing the changing world from a position of timeless strength.

Ever walk into a room and instantly feel calm, inspired, or grounded—without quite knowing why?

That’s the power of sight lines.

Designers think of them as the quiet stage directions of a home: the views your eye naturally follows, the details that frame your perspective, the way one moment connects seamlessly to the next.

When done well, sight lines:
👀 Guide your gaze with intention
🏡 Create a sense of flow between spaces
✨ Elevate the everyday (yes, even pouring your morning coffee)

And when they’re cluttered with too many focal points? The eye doesn’t know where to land, and a space starts to feel busy and unsettled.

Great design isn’t about adding more—it’s about choosing carefully.

On the blog this week, we’re breaking down how sight lines transform kitchens, dining rooms, and living spaces into homes that feel calm, connected, and deeply intentional.

Because the beauty of your home isn’t only in the details you touch—it’s in the ones you feature.

From construction dust to the final layer of styling ✨

This home has been a journey — one guided by calm tones, soft textures, and just the right touch of our client’s favourite hue:

We’re almost ready to reveal the finished space, but for now, here’s a look behind the scenes — where every layer of design comes together to bring that calm, collected feeling home.

Most homeowners underestimate how easily projects go over budget or feel incomplete.

After 14 years in the industry, I’ve noticed three common pitfalls that sneak up on homeowners:

1️⃣ Forgetting flow + function
2️⃣ Overspending in the wrong places
3️⃣ Forgetting the final layers

The good news? Once you know these, they’re easier to avoid. And planning for them from the very beginning makes your renovation smoother, smarter, and far more rewarding.

Because in the end, it’s not just about building a house you admire—it’s about creating a home you love living in. 🖤

We’re honoured (and a little in awe) to share that the principal suite from our Columbia Valley Lakehouse project has been named one of the Top 100 Finalists for Western Living’s 2026 Design 25 Awards.

Designed as a true four-season retreat, this Columbia Valley home is rooted in sustainability, layered with warmth, and shaped by the beauty of its surroundings.

In the primary suite, we aimed for quiet luxury: using handmade recycled tiles, carbon-neutral countertops, and locally manufactured custom white oak lighting. Every detail was chosen to reflect a mindful, minimal approach to living. One of our favourite elements, the wall-washing light fixture handcrafted in BC by artisan , captures that spirit perfectly.

It’s an incredible honour to see this project recognized alongside so many talented designers across Western Canada.

🌿 Western Living’s People’s Choice Awards are now open, and we’d be so grateful for your support:

During my visit to the London Design Festival, three predominant themes emerged; the celebration of heritage and craft, a drive to make circularity an integral part of design, and innovation as the thread that ties them together.

Heritage + Craft
The festival reinterpreted traditional techniques for the modern world. The “Mother Goddess of the Three Realms” project bridged Vietnamese and British craft traditions through h**p and silk. “Gain Pile” showcased furniture made from reclaimed wood, there were natural imperfections and traditional joinery were celebrated.

Circularity
The urgency of shifting away from a “take-make-waste” model was everywhere. The exhibitions showcased eco-friendly materials with orange peels and recycled textiles; the “Circular Design Series” was a reminder that sustainability isn’t an isn’t an after thought, it’s becoming the foundation.

Innovation
Innovation tied everything together, launching groundbreaking ideas and technologies. The “Vert” installation demonstrated how biodegradable netting could reintroduce biodiversity into urban settings. Interior design is all about finding creative solutions that balance beauty, sustainability, and function - the industry is constantly keeping us on our toes to think innovatively!

At Form Interiors, these themes resonate with how we design homes, prioritizing collaboration with artisans and emphasizing details that feel timeless. We create homes with longevity in mind, finding creative solutions that balance beauty, sustainability, and function.

These highlights aren’t just inspiration; they remind us why we design: to create spaces that connect heritage, honour sustainability, and innovate for the way families live today.
