Ok I think I am addicted…

To making angels 😭

And the funny thing is, every time I make a new one, I think, “Okay, THIS one is my favorite!”

From delicate leafy wings and beautiful loopy details to soft, flowing fringe and intricate knots… each angel has her own little personality, and I love them all for different reasons.

Some are old ones I’ve made over the years, and others are newer designs that came from experimenting with different knots and textures.

Now I need YOUR help because I seriously can’t choose! 😂

I can’t believe it…

How is it the last quarter of the year already?!?!

Time really does fly by… and now we’re well into October 🍂

This month, we’re getting into the holiday spirit with holiday macrame: texture play.

Layers, button knots, fringe and dimension, you name it – we will be adding a little extra ooomph in all the pieces.

Yes, yes, YES 🙌🏼

Be an artist.

Sometimes creating something new doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

Sometimes it’s taking an old pattern, looking at it from a different angle, and suddenly… bam 💥 a completely new idea appears.

That’s exactly what happened with my original Leafy Angel design.

I took the old pattern, turned it upside down, and thought, wait… the leaves look beautiful falling this way too.

And from that one little shift, a new angel was born.

That’s the part of macrame I want to encourage more of: don’t just follow patterns…explore them.

Use your hands.
Use your brain.
Use your heart.

Change the direction. Change the proportions. Try a different knot. Add something. Take something away. Ask yourself, what else could this become?

YOU can do this too.

You don’t need to invent a brand new knot pattern to be creative. You just need to give yourself permission to experiment.

That’s what being an artist is. 🤍

And it’s a big part of what we’re focusing on inside the Bochiknot Macrame Community (on Patreon), learning how to move beyond simply recreating projects and start developing your own design eye.

So next time you finish a pattern, don’t put it away just yet.

Turn it around. Flip it upside down. Look at it differently.

You might be surprised by what’s already hiding inside it.

OH Christmas tree 🎄✨

It’s October 1… which means I’m officially allowed to start talking about Christmas macrame, right? 👀

Kicking off the holiday season with one of my favourite Bochiknot designs 🥰🥰, this textured macrame Christmas tree wall hanging. I still love how all of the layers, knots and little golden bead details come together to give it so much dimension. ❤️

I found this $5 bamboo hoop and immediately thought… this could be so much more…

Instead of using a dowel for a wall hanging, I wanted to add some shape to this piece.

With this simple hoop,I turned it into a full statement wall hanging by building texture around the curve and letting the long fringe do most of the visual work.

And the best part? It looks way more complicated than it actually is.

This is one of those projects I love because even if you’re still fairly new to macrame, you can make something that feels big, modern, and impressive without needing a ton of advanced knotwork.

Sometimes the simplest materials make the best pieces…you just have to look at them a little differently.
