“I loved my sofa when I bought it… and now I’m kind of over it”
We hear this one a lot, and it usually comes down to one small choice.
So we pulled together everything we’d tell a friend who’s sofa shopping: why the fabric you fell for in store can look different in your living room, which colours actually last, and how to tell if you’ll still love it in five years.
Save this for later 🤍
This is the easy part 🤎
Something you could do is take a photo of your space so when you’re furniture shopping then you can look at the photo and refer to the colours to make it even easier.
The step will take you two seconds 🔥💙
Our top tip:
Bright, saturated colours look amazing in the shop, but they’re often the first ones you get tired of living with. They also tend to show fading and wear sooner, because sunlight and regular cleaning are much more noticeable on bold dyes.
Muted, softer tones are the more forgiving choice. They hide everyday wear, fade more gracefully, and work with whatever pillows, rugs and paint colours you fall for next 🤍
Your sofa has to keep up with your life, not the other way around 🐾
If kids, pets or movie-night snacks are part of the picture, look for performance fabric. It’s made to be easy to clean and durable enough for everyday life, so you can actually relax on it.
As much as we all want to keep up with the trends, the colour of your sofa should be timeless. You can add trendy decor such as pillows & throws or with your coffee table & end tables - these are things that are easy to replace and a smaller investments ✨
