New lumber has its place but it doesn't tell a story. This old coal shack in the Crowsnest Pass needed to come down, it was to close to the road and was falling over. Instead of it going to the dump like so many old building it will now be used in our work.
This shack has been used for many things, from yard equiment storage, parts storage and even a haven for wasps nest. Originally it was a coal shack, the small door on the alley side was used to shovel coal into the shack so that the Miner Forman that lived in the house had a supply of coal to keep the house heated in the long winters. You can see the years of being abused in the wood itself.
In the photos you can see some bigger coal chunks, and old comic book hidden jn the walls, bottle caps that were used as washers to secure cardboard to the walls ,offering some insulation in the 60s to this shack.
The bottle caps were also used to secure the cedar shakes to the roof as the constant winds of the pass started to take their toll on them.

Not every board is saved from the bin but a large portion of it will go to new Creations.
What should we make?

We couldn't be happier that this old barn board from Springbank could be reclaimed and upcycled into a frame for this fantastic art.

Just finished framing "Safe and Warm" in another gorgeous frame from Chinook Creations and it's absolutely perfect! Thanks again, Jordan! This piece is off to its new home but don't worry, I'll still have prints available of this little cutie at all upcoming markets.

Well that's a wrap. Year 2 at the amazing Canmore Folk Festival in the books. We made some new friends, found some new artists to enjoy, laughed and we hunkered down as the rain and wind beat up the tent.
We sold some art that moved people and now we have to make some more.
We do still have some great pieces left, so if you want your very own Creation please reach out to us. We would love to make the perfect piece for you.
Thank you to the town of Canmore and

Birthed from Earth
We couldn't be happier with how this elegant lady of the woods turned out.
She was slowly carved and shaped from a giant wood stump, burnt to bring out her curves, polished with a beeswax finish and then adorned with preserved mushrooms, moss and polypores.
helped bring this piece to life with her talented and creative vision. It would not have been possible without her help.
We used tool from
