I have been so busy preparing and finally the Na Me Res Pow Wow is just around the corner. Looks like it will be a beauty day in Dufferin Grove Park in Toronto Saturday. 🌞 If that sun gets too hot feel free to come to our tent to get some shade. 😘

Real Monarch Wing earrings ✨
One of the most precious, special things I make. 💖 My time with them heals something in me that breaks each and every time I find them. It is almost like ceremony, and it is an honour. 💖 They have come to mean a million things to me - so many lessons and dear visitors. Some of my favourite teachers. ✨ What might they mean to you?

These female monarch wings are lovingly beaded with a gorgeous combination of delicas and edged with the smallest, pearl-coloured charlotte cut seed beads. They are topped with fresh water pearls. 😍

I was back to working with wings this morning.
💖🦋💖
Ended up feeling a little distracted so quick smudge and reset. Took a short stroll to see who’s growing or visiting outside and I’m back to Inspired. I thought I’d take a quick minute to go back and play a little catch up for smile’s sake anyways.

Last year I found this sweet soul I had never seen before. Not in real life anyways, and she had passed. Even though there were only 3 wings left when I found her, she was very special to me. I was able to save her wings and spent many a day looking closely at her colours and patterns. 😍 As is often the case, each side of her wings are so very striking and different. What struck me the most was the very silvery spots on her hind wings - metallic and shiny and so very pretty. I always wonder if or when I will see another.
But this year I decided finally that they had to be mine. I made them into an earring and pendant set. I loved the colour palette I chose and the stitching seemed so on point. I was so excited it was going so seemlessly, but at the end I noticed a wrong bead on one and then a bead broke in finishing the second. However, these 2 spirit beads I cherish deeply, and made these earrings all the more special to me. ✨

I believe she was a Great Spangled Fritillary and indeed a She. 💖 Of course everyday I am learning, so she could be a very similar fritillary and I would not ever mind being corrected.

Regardless, aren’t her wings GORGEOUS?

Good morning friends 💖
We have had a busy few weeks and are doing our best to prepare for what has become an unpredictable summer for us. In the midst of our creating and celebrating the last bit, we have also learned that a special little someone is awaiting an important surgery. 💖 We are keeping on and still looking forward to an amazing season regardless of set backs. ✨

Hiawatha Pow Wow was the perfect beginning to the season and it was so nice to meet so many of you. 💖 It did my soul good to be there.

The next 2 weekends are going to be big and busy for us, but I wanted to quickly address our *waffle* for any of our ticket holders and also anyone interested. We did not anticipate the waffle going for so very long. 😔 We do appreciate everyone that has already bought tickets and have been waiting patiently. We have decided to close the waffle following Summer Solstice next weekend regardless of whether all tickets have sold or not. ☺️

We are here this afternoon for just a little while. 💖 I love this area, despite the rainy weather. Some of the events were cancelled this morning because of it, but we are inside here at the community centre, dry and surrounded by fellow artists. Exactly where we love to be. 💖 We would all love to see you.
