❤️ A Little Thanksgiving Reflection From Behind the Bakery Counter ❤️

With so many new followers joining our Rustic Rebel family every day, I thought Thanksgiving would be the perfect time to share a little about why this bakery means so much to me.

Many of you know our story, but many of you don't.
Rustic Rebel Sourdough wasn't started simply because I loved baking. It was born out of a life-changing experience.

My husband, Marc, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that forever changed our lives. Today, he continues to live with seizures, which means his safety and well-being are always at the forefront of my mind.

I needed to find a way to work, contribute to our family financially, and most importantly, be there for my husband. I needed something that would allow me to keep him close, monitor him, and know he was safe.

And that's how Rustic Rebel Sourdough began. ❤️

What started as a way to adapt to our new reality has grown into something I never could have imagined.

There are incredibly long days, sleepless nights, challenges, frustrations, and moments when I wonder how I'm going to get everything done.

But then I look at what we've built.

A bakery. A wonderful team. Friendships. A community that continues to show up for us. And most importantly, a business that allows me to care for the person I love.

This bakery has given me something money simply cannot buy — the ability to be present for my husband when he needs me.

So this Thanksgiving, when I think about what I'm grateful for, it's not the number of loaves we've sold or how much we've grown.

It's my husband. My family. Our incredible staff. And every single person who has walked through our doors, purchased a loaf, shared a post, offered encouragement, or believed in us.

You may think you're simply buying a loaf of sourdough, a bag of bagels, or your morning coffee.

But to me, you're helping make it possible for me to continue doing what I love while being there for the person I love.

And for that, I will forever be grateful.

Kindness costs nothing....

This morning I received a sweet message from Christina, the mother of Joe, a young man headed to Barcelona for Soccer. We recently raised funds helping him push towards his goal.

An hour later both Joe and Christina Boggs arrived with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for me. When I asked what the occasion was, Joe simply stated its a thank you for raising funds for me. You both have no idea how incredibly kind your gesture was, the message in itself meant everything, the flowers nearly dropped me to my knees!!

Christina, what an incredible job you are doing of raising such a positive and sweet young man.

This is why community matters to us ❤️

🍁🦃 THANKSGIVING HOURS UPDATE! 🦃🍁

Just a little change to our hours for tomorrow, Sunday, October 11th!

We will be closing a little earlier than usual at 1:00 PM so we can head home, and enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with our children. ❤️

Our doors will still open at 8:00 AM, so be sure to stop in early and grab your Thanksgiving goodies!

Oh Nat 🤣🤣.(sharing with her permission)

So we use the rinds of oranges and lemons ok

So yesterdayI had her make a cranberry orange loaf, taught her how to rind the orange. I ALSO needed a pumpkin spice loaf

When it was time for the pumpkin spice she asked me if I had a pumpkin to grate 🤦‍♀️

So I simply stared at her, is she for real?? So she goes on a hunt for a pumpkin in the cabinet. Says she cant find one. Asks if i need her to go to Foodland to get one.

So I gave her my debit and asked her to go to Foodland and look for shredded pumpkin in the veggie dept, off she goes. At this point we are all in tears. So she comes back and says they have none. She looked and asked 3 staff. 😳

So I say ok well than we can use the Puree instead!

Than i call my tenant. Ask him to go to Foodland for pumpkin shredded. He says "ya its that time of year, ok" off he goes. He than calls me says they don't have any. I asked if he asked someone so he says " yes shes standing beside me" 🤭

So he comes to bakery and apologized that he couldn't find it. I pull both him and Nat aside and asked them what in their right mind.....??!!!

Today our beloved Nat shows up with a pumpkin and a grater. Should we put her to work? 🤣
