Had such fun yesterday with this group of ladies at the first sold-out workshop of the summer season! They came from all corners of the US to PEI and were enjoying a vacation full of Island experiences - an art course, a needle-felting workshop at Island Hill Farm Inc , and loom knitting at my studio. Then they were off to enjoy lunch in North Rustico. Safe travels, ladies!!!

This is a summary of a wonderful article by Ashleigh-ellan (link below) wherein she chats about the true cost of creating a knitting pattern. If you take into consideration the author's time spent to design, knit, write and grade the pattern, have test knits done, take photographs and market the pattern for sale at $15.00, the author would need to sell roughly 400-500 patterns to earn minimum wage for the hours spent - not even taking into consideration the cost of the yarn used in the project. The average pattern sales earn an author under $4.00/hour for what has taken years of skill and knowledge to develop. For additional info, be sure to read the article linked below.

A trade deficit is the equivalent of a person going out shopping to multiple retail outlets and purchasing lots of goodies on their credit card. Then that same person blames all of the retail outlets for selling them things because they now owe money on their credit card. If you have a chance, be sure to listen to this presentation.

If you have always wanted to try your hand at knitting socks but think that creating a heel is beyond your skill set, our new “My First Socks” pattern is perfect for you! If you can form knit and purl stitches, and make increases and decreases, you have all the tools you need to knit your first pair of socks. This pattern works up quickly in worsted weight wool. If you knit the anklet version, you should only need a single skein of wool.
