Donell, watching you grow into the amazing young man you are today has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.

You are kind, generous, intelligent, and you carry yourself with so much integrity and strength. Can’t forget how handsome you are too 🫶🏻 I am so incredibly proud of the man you have become and even prouder to be able to say that I’m your mom. ❤️

No matter how old you get, you will always be the baby of the family — my wash belly. 😂❤️

“Yes, that’s it… that’s home.” 🥹❤️

That might have been one of my favourite moments from my first cooking class.

I gave the instructions, but these three ladies did the cooking — and allyuh, they did GOOD! 🙌🏽😂 We had plenty of laughs along the way, and of course we established one very important rule… apparently it HAS to be Chief curry powder! 😂🇹🇹

Then came the real test… tasting what they made.

The verdict? “It’s perfect.” ❤️

I have so many great moments from this class, so I’m sharing them as a little Cooking Class series. ❤️

It’s been a while since I made dhalpuri, don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten! 😂🫓

And before allyuh come for the way I hold my rolling pin… SEE?! I am capable of using the handles! 😂 I just prefer doing it my way!

Stuffed it GOOD, rolled it out, had my little singing and dancing break at the tawa 😂 and got those little brown spots just the way I like them. 😍

A little Halifax mini vacay recap ✨🥰

Good food, pool time, exploring the Halifax waterfront, lots of laughs and the highlight of the trip — finally getting to see Matt Rife at the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival! 😂🎤

I’ve wanted to see Matt Rife for such a long time, and he did NOT disappoint. He was absolutely hilarious and so good live! 😂

This trip was an amazing Christmas gift, and getting to finally see him while making all of these memories together made it even more special. Definitely something I’ll cherish. ❤️

“Can you come home and live with us?” 😂❤️

That was the question I got AFTER they tasted the food at my very first cooking class… so I’m taking that as a pretty good review! 😂

I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with three wonderful ladies. We laughed, shared stories, made Trinidadian doubles and fry bake, and had so much fun along the way.

Watching everyone learn my techniques, cook alongside me, and then hearing things like “Excellent… texture, taste, it’s perfect!” and “Best doubles I’ve tasted” made all of the preparation so worth it. ❤️

And I had a little surprise waiting for them! Since we were also celebrating a birthday, I made saltfish the night before so that when it was time to taste our freshly fried bake, we’d have something delicious to stuff inside.

Judging by the dancing afterward… I think they approved. 😂💃🏽

There’s something really special about bringing people together through food, and walking out of that kitchen after my very first class, I was HAPPY. 🥹❤️

Thank you to these wonderful ladies for trusting me and making my first cooking class an experience I’ll never forget.

Now I want to know… would you take a Cooking with Christal cooking class? And what would you want me to teach? 👩🏽‍🍳

Okayyyy… CORRECTION! 😂🌶️

I knew something wasn’t adding up! Those little round peppers had me thinking, “Wait a minute…” 🤔😂

So I went back through my pictures to see which pots I had planted them in and sure enough — I had them backwards!

🌶️ The plant FULL of little peppers is my Wiri Wiri pepper plant
🌶️ My Trinidad Scorpion is the one still flowering with no peppers yet.

Mystery solved! 😂

Now I’m just waiting for that Scorpion plant to do its thing. 👀🌶️

Quick little Saturday pepper plant update! 🌶️🪴

Some of you might remember I brought these plants home from Toronto back in May — and look at them now!

My Trinidad Scorpion pepper plant 🇹🇹 is FULL of little peppers coming in, but my Guyanese Wiri Wiri 🇬🇾 is taking her sweet time 😂 Lots of flowers, but no peppers just yet.

I can’t wait until I can actually cook with peppers I grew myself! 🌶️

Who thinks the Wiri Wiri is going to give me some peppers before summer is over? 👀
