Home by Design offers both full-service and e-design packages that can be customized to your needs.

Home by Design is a full-service and e-design interior design company located on Prince Edward Island. We specialize in creating holistic interiors by designing spaces that are beautiful, functional, and promote overall well-being. We believe that the spaces in our home ultimately impact how we live our lives and how we feel. Through taking into account clients’ day-to-day activities and their intended purposes of individual spaces, we use this information along with interior design principles to curate spaces that are unique to each client. Owner and principal designer, Shianna Gallant, holds a diploma in Interior Design from the Interior Design Institute of Canada and has designed her own home from construction through completion. Shianna also holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, which together enable her to bring a holistic view that focuses on function and overall well-being to design.

〰️ Dining area transformation 〰️

By removing one of the patio doors, this allowed us to maximize underutilized space in the back corner of this open concept kitchen/dining area- the perfect canvas for adding a large banquet seating area for dining.

New flooring, a stunning custom table + chairs, and a beautiful chandelier add the warmest finishing touches to this space 🤍

Kitchen details ✨

▪️Panel-ready appliances with beautiful custom cabinetry
▪️Under-mount + toe-kick cabinet lighting
▪️ Stunning bridge-style sink faucet
▪️ Mixing metals (stainless steel + brushed gold)
▪️ Minimal yet meaningful countertop styling selections

Each of these design choices were intentionally selected by myself and the homeowners to ensure that function, individuality and style exist cohesively.

I am so excited to share details of this kitchen transformation with you all!

The two primary goals for this kitchen renovation were to open up the space to allow more than one person to work in the kitchen at a time and to modernize it.

We didn’t end up changing too much with the bones of the original kitchen design, beside opening up the peninsula and slightly extending the cabinetry/countertop to reach the patio door. With these subtle changes, the space feels much larger and allows for a more functional work area!

Simple Sunday reminder that your guest bedroom doesn’t need to be over the top for it to be warm and welcoming for guests 🤍☁️

A cozy rug, white linens, and throw pillows/blankets can go a long way to spruce up your space!

Living room details 👀

I had so much fun customizing this beautiful sofa from Hambly's Brandsource Home Furnishings, which was our starting point for styling this living room.

From there, we selected this beautiful horseshoe coffee table, which is a work of art itself 😮‍💨 Custom pillows (VEN Design) and this multi-hued rug work to pull this look cohesively together. Red Coast Construction stained this mantle the most beautiful walnut colour and I’m honestly obsessed with how it turned out.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown myself on here and took the time to re-introduce myself for any new followers. I also figured now is a great time to provide a personal/business update for my existing followers!

My name is Shianna and I am the owner of Home by Design. I started this business about a year and a half ago offering small-scale, e-design services and expanded to offer full-scale interior design services last January. My husband (Red Coast Construction) and I recently finished up a full house renovation for a client, which was our first joint project (hopefully the first of many!).

I work part-time at interior design as I also work full-time in health care. My husband and I are excited to be welcoming our first (human) baby into this world in early December, so I will be taking some time off from my business. I will still be checking my socials and responding to emails during this time, so please feel free to reach out if you have any inquires!
