Good afternoon!
It’s disappointing that I feel the need to make this post on Thanksgiving weekend, but here we are.
Over the past few days, I’ve received two messages questioning my pricing, including a comment suggesting that “I’m going to price myself right out of business.”
I want to address this respectfully, because there seems to be some confusion about what goes into making authentic sourdough.
Not all sourdough is created the same.
My bread is made using traditional sourdough methods, without commercial yeast, and undergoes approximately 26 hours of fermentation. This process takes time, planning, quality ingredients, and a great deal of hands on work.
Comparing my bread to another business’ product made using commercial yeast is comparing two different processes. Every business has its own methods, ingredients, costs, and pricing. My products are priced according to the time, ingredients, and work that go into making them.
I’ve been doing this for over four years, and I stand behind the quality of what I make. I know what goes into every loaf, and I believe my pricing is fair for the product I’m offering.
It’s one thing to have a question about pricing, but it’s another to make assumptions about my business and its future without understanding what goes into it. Comments like these are unfair to the people who work hard to build and maintain a small business.
I also want to respectfully remind everyone that I have business hours for a reason. I work incredibly hard to keep my bakery running, and when I’m closed, I need that time to rest and spend with my family. Please respect those boundaries and refrain from sending business related messages outside of business hours, particularly on weekends and holidays.
I welcome genuine questions and appreciate the incredible support this community has shown my little bakery. 💛
I’m proud of what I make, proud of the business I’ve built over the past four years, and confident in the quality I put into every single loaf.
To everyone who continues to support my bakery and understands the value of handcrafted sourdough, thank you. Your support means more than you know. 💛
