Kitchen Wood Etc. is evolving and re-branding as ART MEETS WOOD by Sheila. Still creating from wood, but with less Kitchen and more Art.

Like so many, I have a hobby that I’d like to turn into a business ... so here goes. I have enjoyed creating useful items out of wood for many years and found that once I made something for myself or family, I wanted to do it again and improve it ... but what would I do with another one? When people find out I like wood

working, they ask what I make. Answer: “Mostly sawdust”
My most recent project was a cutting board my husband requested. Shortly after, I saw a Facebook post for a semi-local “Handmade and Vintage” show looking for vendors. The first thing on the list of items they were looking for was cutting boards. Still considering doing that, but getting enough things made is expensive and time consuming. Then I noticed a friend had posted that she opened an Etsy store. After a bit of conversation with her and some research, I also “went for it”. My store is now open, but there’s not much there yet. I have a couple other items to post and 2 carving boards ‘in production”. I’m now dreaming of my first sale so I can buy more wood.

𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘃𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 🪵❤️
If you’ve noticed a quiet stretch here at Art Meets Wood by Sheila, I wanted to pop in and share a little bit of what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Back in the winter, I had the best of intentions. The plan was simple: get into the shop, turn some beautiful new pieces, and post here regularly.
The Reality? Life had other plans. My mother-in-law passed away in February, and since then, my days haven’t been spent at the lathe. Instead, they’ve been filled with tape, cardboard boxes, and the task of sorting through the home she lived in for almost 70 years.
When life hands you a massive project like that, the studio has to wait. It turns out "Nope, you have other things to do" became my reality these past few months!
I’m slowly finding my way back to the shop, and I can’t wait to share some new turnings with you soon. Until then, thank you all for being such a supportive community—it means the world to me. 🥰
Even though there won’t be a lot of new work to show you, I am participating in the CK Arts and Culture Network Studio Tour May 30 and 31. I will be joining my cousin at Glass, vintage & whimsy on Base Line Dresden.

I haven't spent much time in the shop lately. I've been working creating a website for my work, but did get a few photos today. This is the last piece done before the name change and the first completed after.

No, I didn't change my name to Art (Arthur)
I'm still creating with wood, just less "Kitchen" and more "Art"
