A Winter project at Slipcovers etc…….

from the original red/orange brocade upholstered sofa of years ago to a refresh using stain resistant modern-textured fabric to create a slipcover for many more years of use … older furniture was made to last and l it did!

August 2025 turned out to be a very busy time (as is usually the case).

Two chairs were booked in for new slipcovers, one in plain red and one in a red stripe.

Both chairs were delivered to the shop and the slipcovers were begun.

Normally 2 chair slipcovers at the same time would also be the same design but not in this case. I would work a little on one and then move to the other so they would be completed at the same time, for a single pick up.

They are to sit on either end of a sofa creating a very bold design feature.

The second project arrived in August unexpectedly but involved fittings on site at a location close by.

Measurements were taken on the first visit, a fitting after assembling the back, arms and seat on the second visit and then the final delivery.

The project was a great success and the delivery was just in time for a visit from the family.

July 2025’s work schedule included replacing binding and adding new backing on four nautical pillows as back cushions for dining chairs.

The original binding on the cushions was worn and needed to be replaced so it was decided to change the backing as well - an excellent idea!

I guess you could say “slipcovers come in all sizes”!

The next slipcover project was actually left for me to complete through the winter of 2025.

Slipcovers for two identical chairs, one of which was delivered to my shop with the fabric being shipped directly to me.

The first challenge was aligning the stripes on one chair and then replicating them on the second chair.

Fortunately, the chairs were a very traditional style and the stripes lent themselves to the straight lines of the design.

The slipcovers and the chair were delivered in time for the customers’ arrival and they were pleased.
