🌻 How well do you know your sunflowers?

These cheerful late-summer favourites are more interesting than they look! A few fun sunflower facts:

🌻 What looks like one giant flower is actually made up of hundreds of tiny individual flowers.

☀️ Young sunflowers exhibit heliotropism, following the sun across the sky as they grow. Mature blooms generally settle facing east.

🐝 Their pollen and nectar make sunflowers a fantastic food source for bees and other pollinators.

🐦 Leave the seed heads standing after flowering and they can become a natural late-season food source for birds.

🌱 And they come in far more than classic yellow—from dwarf varieties to towering giants and blooms in shades of gold, burgundy, bronze and cream.

Big, bright, useful and beautiful—there’s a lot to love about a sunflower! 🌻
