Soper Creek Yarn

Soper Creek Yarn Where Beautiful Projects Begin! Located in Historic Village of Orono. A bright shop filled with everything you need to complete a knitting project.

Great gifts for your knitting friends too! The Shop opened at 80 King Street West, Bowmanville on December 1st, 2008 and in June 2013 we expanded into the shop next door, doubling the space. In 2019 we downsized the shop and moved everything to a 1920"s Bank Building, with vaults still inside, in the beautiful Village of Orono, Ontario.

Another one? It is getting harder to come up with colour combinations that work together. It’s interesting that light blue, beige, brown and bright red actually work well together.

I have lost count of the number of these I have made, and yes I did start another!

Sock Yarn but not socks scarf, uses the leftovers you have been saving for something.
I did write out the pattern, it’s in the December 2025 newsletter.

How I spent my summer holiday?

TheGirls came for a visit this week. There were things to do! A birthday to celebrate, blue berries to pick, flowers to arrange, and they made fairy doors for the wee folk. Of course there were games to play, and stories to read too!

They left last night and now the house is quiet!

It’s back to work, more grab bags to make!
Where did summer go!

Never start a new project on a Friday!

I worked with a lovely group of women when I was still a teenager. They taught me so much, but one thing they were sure of is if you began a project on a Friday it would never be finished. It likely had to do with housework and other domestic activities. (Saturday is for Baking and Sunday was a day of rest)

I started this project last night. The inspiration was Stephen West’s new scarf collection. The yarn is slightly heavier, it’s a Dk weight so I adjusted the needles accordingly.

The sunflowers have been fun to watch. TheBoy brought these from his garden, only because the plant broke off half way up. The small buds are opening up slowly, the bigger blooms are just about done.

Have a great day!

If there ever was an exam for knitting skills this project would be one of the questions.

This tiny project is filled with all the skills you acquire after many projects: Judy’s magic cast on, M1r, M1l, wrap and turn, 3 needle bind of and grafting.

It’s a fun little project, takes about an hour to make using the bits of leftovers in your yarn stash. I used an Aran weight yarn with 3.75mm needles.

Plus it’s a free design.

Grab bags!

These have been so much fun to put together. I never know what I am going to find as I peak into boxes in storage.
I love the Pink and Orange combination, quite inspiring!
These 4 will be added to the website later today!

Don’t worry there are more online right now and a few more coming through. I will try to keep at least 12 up on the website over the weekend. It’s fun gong though the boxes and deciding who gets voted out!

A good chance to grab some great yarn for those small projects or charity knitting!

We have been quiet this past week, just enjoying being semi-retired.

This week the goal is to find all the bits and pieces of yarn and notions to create ‘grab bags’. These are the last few skeins of a yarn line, maybe some buttons and notions. It will take time to photograph the items and get them on the website.

Also in the works is a newsletter, there might be some hints included. Head to the website, it’s easy to join!

Happy Monday.
