an ode to the odd. [a look at why odd numbers are the way to go]

you don’t have to be a trained interior designer to know that odds numbers are favoured in the styling of a space. but why?

the principle works in practice because groupings of odd numbers, particularly in 3s, create visually apprealing, engaging and organic arrangments, as well as a sense of flow, encouraging eyes to move around a grouping, and by extention, the interior space as a whole. the opposite being true of even numbers that create symmetry and obvious pattern, giving off a sense of rigidness.

while the odd numbers principle can be played out in many ways, like the mixing of patterns and furniture groupings, the easiest way to execute is in featured accents and design details. and in the case of vintage [authentic or inspired] finds, our favoured elements, with each piece unique in its finish, the concept is fool proof.
