Hi everyone,
We wanted to share a personal update with our Kalem’s Corner community, as many of you have kindly been asking how Cory is doing.
After a recent call with his oncology team, we have learned that his health has shifted. His latest scans show some progression. There is also a small mass in his stomach that needs further investigation, and an MRI is being scheduled to take a closer look at the spots in his brain.
Because of this, Cory is moving into a new phase of treatment. This next phase is expected to be much harder on his body, with more fatigue, nerve pain in his hands and feet, and stronger side effects as his immune system is more impacted. This was not easy news for him, or for our family, to receive.
We are sad. We are tired. We had just started learning how to live with the uncertainty, and this update was a reminder that everything we are holding so tightly right now is fragile and temporary.
His oncology team shared that for some people who can tolerate this treatment, it can offer a bit more time, in the range of five to eight months, before the cancer changes again. Cory has already been through the first phase of treatment and is now entering the second. If this treatment stops working or becomes too hard on his body, the options become more limited, and the focus would eventually shift toward comfort and palliative care.
This is where we are right now, taking things one day at a time, and holding space for what is and what comes next.
Cory continues to show up with quiet strength and courage, even on the hardest days. His energy is unpredictable, and the days where he feels more like himself are fewer, but he is still here, still fighting, and still very loved.
Thank you for supporting our small family business with so much kindness and care, and for holding our family so gently through this time. It truly means more than we can put into words. We miss you all so much!
With love,
Cory, Nick, Kalem and Sammy
