The Fattest Bear of 2026 is... 89 Backpack! His story is not without struggle; he suffered from a bad leg injury in 2007 when he was just a yearling cub, but was able to make a full recovery. He is not an aggressive bear, but he will stand up for himself when needed. Also, his mother, Holly, is a previous Fat Bear winner, so Fattest Bear status is in his DNA 👑 🧬

Backpack now has a long winter of rest ahead of him, and after a hard summer of salmon fishing, he is likely yearning for a solid and supportive mattress to rest his back on. Read up on each one below, and let us know in the comments which firm DreamLife Mattress he should choose!

We are so ready to start voting for Fat Bear Week 2026! Voting starts tomorrow.

This year there are five mother bears and cubs that are vying for the distinction of 2026's Fattest Bears. A mother bear must work to feed, nurture, and protect her cubs, while also ensuring she gets enough calories to survive the long hibernation. Cubs face many hazards such as other bears, getting enough calories and a challenging environment.

Did you know? A high quality mattress doesn't sag!

Back pain, hip pain, and shoulder pain can all be symptoms of a sagging mattress. A sag in a mattress means the internal support system has started to break down. This is not a normal occurrence for a good quality mattress with under 9-10 years of use. If your mattress is sagging or is developing body impressions, it is time to consider a replacement! 🛏 😴 💕
