Found a neat piece of walnut today!

This happens right before the trunk of the tree turns into branches. Funnily enough, it is called the "Crotch" of the tree, and Walnut shows it really well.
My understanding is that the grain of the tree has no clue where to go and starts to intertwine and make these wild patterns. I sprayed a little water on it so you can see the before and after.
