My half-assed attempt at a how-to video.
How social media woodworkers have the time to film, edit, and voiceover... as well as actually build things, is beyond me. Kudos.

With the arrival of cooler temperatures comes a renewed interest in wood working, at least for me.
I'm going to build a coffee table based on the Japanese inspired smaller table I built in 2023.
Birch, Jatoba, and Walnut.
I'll try and take some progress pics as I go.
This one will be up for sale when it's finished.
Cheers!

When Sam and Liam asked me to make a dining room table and bench for their new house, my immediate thought was, "Oh, absolutely not". I couldn't take on a project that large, could I? At this point, I had only made a few night stands, a handful of cutting boards, and some other small woodworking projects. Thankfully, they asked again, and I agreed to take on the project.

I knew it was going to stretch my skills, and on more than one occasion, my patience. I couldn't get the boards lined up properly. I cut too much off of a table support after I had already glued it up. The bench was too back heavy and tipped over easily. To compile this, I decided that I would only buy rough lumber and plane/join all of the pieces to size myself. In my basement.

Well, two(ish?) years later, and the table and bench have finally made their way to their new home.

I'm not sure I would take on another project this large, but I am incredibly happy with how it came together.

The table top is cherry. The bench and table base are red oak (stained with Minwax Early American). The wood for the project came from East Coast Specialty Hardwoods Ltd.

Not only did Sam and Liam trust me to build this, but Samantha also took all of the beautiful photos of the bench and table. My apologies for instagram cropping some of them.

If you've read this far, thank you! And swipe to the end to see Jane's approval.

Hey! It's been a while. I've been working on writing and recording songs with the band and just released a book of poetry. I did find some time to make a few vinyl display shelves that I've been wanting to make for a while now.

They are 13"x1.75". Made with Canadian red oak, hand sanded, and finished with a wipe on poly. The shelf features keyholed slots for easy hanging. The routered groove should fit most 12" records, including double vinyls. If you have some sort of huge deluxe edition vinyl that you really want to display, let me know, and I can make an adjustment.

$20 for one, or $50 for a set of three. Shelf comes with a set of screws for hanging.

I can take some orders, and it "should" be a pretty short turnaround. If you're interested in another wood species, we can work that out.

In theory, I can ship anywhere in Canada but can deliver within the HRM. DM me, and we'll chat about logistics.

Thanks for lookin'!

Oh. And the Supporting Caste reissue vinyl from fu***ng rips.
PS. Peep the hometown boys' record as well.
