Join our owner Meg for the October session of our monthly workshop series—a new quilt block every month! Each month, you’ll learn to piece a different traditionally-pieced quilt block—one workshop at a time.

Along the way, you’ll explore quilt design and colour theory, practise precise rotary cutting, and learn how to match and nest seams. Come stitch, learn, and enjoy a cozy afternoon with us! ✨

Another busy week ahead, with a few last-minute schedule changes! 🧶

Our How to Magic Loop micro-skills session, originally scheduled for tomorrow, is postponed to October 28. And our Learn to Knit Portuguese-Style Workshop is now happening on November 14. We hope you can still join us!

On Thursday, we’ll meet for the third session of Knit Your First Sweater. Missed Weeks 1 and 2? No worries! This six-week class is mix-and-match, so you can jump right in.

And on Saturday, we’re excited to host ’s community quilt project for . The Nova Scotia Grief and Solidarity Quilt for Palestine brings together the work of 100 contributors from across Mi’kma’ki, of all ages and stages of life. 💛🧵 Be sure to pop by!

We're a week into October, which means that we are a week into Socktober! 🧦✨

Socktober is an annual month-long giving campaign held every October to collect new socks and winter essentials for people in need, including people experiencing homelessness. Socks are among the least-donated—but most-needed—items at shelters.

Thinking about donating socks? They don’t need to be handmade—most charities actually prefer commercially made socks. If you’d like to donate handmade socks, check with your chosen charity first to make sure they accept them and to learn about their guidelines.

❤️ 2026 Red Scarf Campaign ❤️

Every December 1, on World AIDS Day, Heal NS lines the fences around Halifax’s Public Gardens with bright red scarves handmade and donated by local knitters.

Each scarf represents hope, remembrance, and solidarity with Nova Scotians living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Anyone who needs a scarf is welcome to take one, and any scarves left at the end of the day are donated to local shelters.

Want to help? We’ve put together Red Scarf kits with yarn included—and a pattern is optional! 🧶

Bring your finished scarf back to Stitch & Knit by November 22, and we’ll give you a $10 gift card! Plus, we’ll make sure your scarf reaches HEAL NS in time for the December 1 display.

Knit, donate, or wear red to help spread warmth, care, and awareness. ❤️
