SUNDAY HOME MAINTENANCE TIPS FROM DE MOSS BOSS!
A little preventative maintenance can save you a LOT of money down the road! Here are a few simple things every homeowner should keep an eye on:
🍂 Check your gutters — If water is spilling over the sides when it rains, they’re likely clogged. Keeping them clear helps protect your roof, siding and foundation from water damage.
🌿 Don’t let moss take over — Moss loves damp, shaded areas and can spread quickly once established. Left untreated, it can trap moisture against your roof and grow underneath or between shingles, potentially causing them to lift and deteriorate over time. Catching it early can help prevent unnecessary roof damage and costly repairs.
💦 Watch where your downspouts drain — Make sure water is being directed AWAY from your home instead of pooling around the foundation.
🪟 Don’t forget your window tracks & sills — Dirt, moss and debris can build up quickly and interfere with proper drainage.
🚿 Pressure washing isn’t always the answer — Some surfaces need a gentler approach! Too much pressure can actually cause damage, especially on roofing and certain types of siding.
👀 Do a quick walk-around after heavy wind or rain — Look for overflowing gutters, loose downspouts, lifted shingles or anything that suddenly looks different.
