Thayer Coggin has been building furniture in High Point, North Carolina since the 1950s — the same workshop that produced Milo Baughman’s designs and helped define American modern. Roger is a newer piece, designed by Ransom Culler, but it comes out of that same tradition: get the line right first, then make it comfortable.

Here's the trap with a dining table: you buy for the biggest night of the year, then eat at it alone for the other 360.

The Eleana is 54 inches round on a normal week — close enough to pass the salt without asking. Add the leaf and it opens to 74, and there's room for everyone who showed up.

Walnut with real grain movement across the top, on a sculpted pedestal base, so the extra chairs have somewhere to put their knees.

Most people give up on one of two things. Either you get the chair that's actually comfortable — and live with how it looks in the corner of a room you spent years getting right — or you keep the room and sit in something you never quite settle into.

A good book earns you in one line. You don't decide to keep reading — you just do, and you're three pages in before you notice.
