Meet a FAIM entrepreneur!

Name: Jessica Helm
Business Name: Beautifully Unique by JC

1. What inspired you to start your own business, and what do you love most about the process?
Jess: I wanted to be an entrepreneur to gain some financial freedom.

2. Can you tell us about one of your favourite items you’ve gotten and what makes it special to you?
Jess: Hair oil that Farmasi sells is the one product I choose over everything else. It protects hair and skin for damage and helps my hair and nails grow, and skin glow.

3. How does running your own business make you feel and what have you learned about yourself along the way?
Jess: I take pride in my work and I’ve had to learn how to have an authentic online presence how to be myself.

4. What do you hope people feel when they receive one of your items?
Jess: I hope they feel accomplished and getting a high quality product.

5. What would you like people to know about your journey as an entrepreneur?
Jess: It is possible to gain financial freedom in online sales.

Name: Kyle Goode
Business Name: Paracord Express

1. What inspired you to start creating and what do you love most about the process?
Kyle: It was during the pandemic and with FAIM being closed I needed an activity to keep busy and to continue to learn. My dad and I researched and found crafts with Paracord. I found I liked making bracelets and continued the craft and making a variety of items. I love most that it continues to inspire my creativity.

2. Can you tell us about one of your favourite items that you’ve made and what makes it special to you?
Kyle: One of my favourite items is decorating picture frames. This is different and unique and inspires me to try new things.

3. How does running your own business make you feel and what have you learned about yourself along the way?
Kyle: Running my own business makes me feel good because it’s helping with my independence. I have learned skills I didn’t know I could do.

4. What do you hope people feel when they receive one of your handmade items?
Kyle: I hope they feel happy because they are getting something unique and made especially for them.

5. What would you like people to know about your journey as an artist and entrepreneur?
Kyle: It was hard at the beginning for me to sell to people, but I’ve developed confidence in myself, and I believe in my product so it’s getting easier.

Name: Kathleen Hass
Business Name: Enchanted Bath Salts

1. What inspired you to start creating and what do you love most about the process?
Kathleen: I really like bath salts, and I got inspired by looking at ideas on Pinterest. I loved putting my products together and deciding the scents.

2. Can you tell us about one of your favourite items you’ve made and what makes it special to you?
Kathleen: 'Spice it up' was my favourite product to make as it reminds me of a beautiful Christmas smell with the scent of berries. Christmas is my favourite time of year.

3. How does running your own business make you feel, and what have you learned about yourself along the way?
Kathleen: Running my own business makes me feel like an adult and independent. I learned about the cost side of a business and that this is not a strength of mine, but I had someone to help me with this and improve my skill.

4. What do you hope people feel when they receive one of your handmade items?
Kathleen: I hope they feel special and can feel the love I put into my bath salts.

5. What would you like people to know about your journey as an artist an entrepreneur?
Kathleen: I was able to lean into and share my creativity and love of art. I also learned a lot about what goes into running your own business.
