Paper Piecing 101 has started Monday afternoons from 1-3. Drop in and see what we are doing. Try making a block or two to see if you want to continue…the first 2 blocks are very simple (2 and 4 seams)…the next set of 2 blocks have a few more seams, with the last 2 blocks having details thus more seams, BUT they are all doable! 10 Morris St Forest. PLUS you can check out the other easy paper piecing projects I have done and will hold classes for them also.

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at paper piecing? I’m offering a Paper Piecing 101 Class just for beginners. Classes start on Monday Sept 28 from 1-4 or Thursday Oct 1 from 5-9 (although this 1st class may need to be postponed…Thursday night class ONLY..more to follow on that)…
In this class (6-8 weeks) you will learn just the basic Paper Piecing blocks to complete. You will do a total of 6 different 6” blocks. We start at the simplest and gradually work our way up to more difficult blocks. You can do 4-6 of each block, or as many as you need to make your smallish wallhanging or throw. You pick your own colour scheme and I’ll help you plan how to lay out your blocks!
This will be a fun course to take and give you another quilting technique to master. Pics show each block in a 4 block setting. There are many ways to lay the blocks out, and this is just the ones I chose to do.
Class fee includes everything you need to make the wallhanging/throw. Fee is $80 complete.

Snowman Paper Piecing Wall hanging. 4 fairly easy to do Snowman blocks. Each block is 6" square. Makes a wall hanging roughly 18" x 18". This snowmanbblock can be substituted for one of the blocks in my Paper Piecing 101 classes that start on the 28th. To do just the Snowman wall hanging it's $30.00 all inclusive. Yes, I have to change out some of my eyes!...lol...classes just for the Snowman will be Tuesday afternoons (3) 1-4 or evenings 6-9. Starting September 29th

Paper Piecing 101 class. In this 6+ week class we will be doing simple-harder paper piecing blocks. There are 6 blocks in total I'm showing each block in sets of 4 just to give you an idea how to use them in a quilt. At the end of the class you will make your blocks into a sampler quilt. roughly 35 x 25..plus borders. Class is $80 and includes everything to make the blocks and the sampler quilt. Classes start Monday Sept 28 (afternoons) and Thursday October 1 (evenings)

New Christmas fabrics are in stock! All are from England! Not many other quilt shops will have the designs we have! All are reasonably priced at $17.00/yard. Starting on Monday Sept 29 and running for 6+ consecutive weeks I am offering “Welcome to Paper Piecing 101 classes”. Each week we will focus on a different 6” paper piecing block and you will make 2-4 of each 6” block. 4 blocks will make 1 12” square block. At the end of the session, you will put all your blocks together to make a small/medium sampler quilt. Approx. 24” x 36” plus borders if wanted. Your choice of fabrics (as always)…you use my sewing machines and notions. Cost is $80 total. The blocks can be seen at SewWhat SEWS on Morris St. Drop by to get the nitty gritty on the course. Classes will be Monday afternoons 1-4 and/or Thursday evenings 6-9. I have a limit of 4 per class.

Kids sewing classes start tomorrow! Where has the summer gone? I have 1 opening in the morning 10-12 class and 2 openings in the afternoon 2-4 class. Kids must be 8+ and be able to touch the floor while sitting on a chair and reach the foot pedal. Contact me for more info or drop by 10-4 Mon-Sat. 10 Morris St Forest.

Just getting back from the Quilt Source Canada Open House! It was great, loved meeting all the people and finally putting a face to all the names I’ve dealt with. Thoroughly enjoyed all the company’s represented…mostly Canadian, but they came from England, Australia and Japan…NO US company’s at all.
