The countdown to becoming a full time artist is on…

In 5 days I will begin dedicating my days to my dream of being a full time artist.

I will fill my days drawing my heart out, getting to know you guys, and introducing myself more, and building something that my family and I can be proud of.

What should I tackle first?

Changes are a coming…

You’re going to start seeing a few changes around here.

As much as I love drawing our furry friends (they are pretty adorable), my favourite subject has always been, and will probably continue to be for some time, the human form.

Don’t worry, dog people. I’m not abandoning pups completely. Just following the art where it keeps pulling me.

Let’s talk about self doubt as an artist.

A couple of days ago, I announced that starting in September, I’ll be focusing on my art full time. This is monumental for me.

I’m not making this leap because I suddenly became incredibly confident. I’m doing it because I believe I can be afraid, but do it anyways. I say this to my kids constantly.

I have no idea exactly where this journey will take me.
That’s one of the things I’m most excited about! Guess we will find out together. ☺️

Flashing back to this commission from this time last year.

I usually don’t include the background in my portraits so that all of the focus can be on the loved ones in it, but sometimes a background adds so much to a picture, it just doesn’t feel right to leave it out.

I love that when people ask me to do a portrait for them they usually give me creative freedom to make a portrait I think they will love.

Thanks everyone for the outpouring of encouragement from my post yesterday announcing my jump to become a full time artist. You sure know how to make a woman feel supported! ❤️❤️❤️

Big news that I’m so excited to finally share…

This September, I’m taking the leap and becoming a full-time artist!

It’s something I’ve dreamed about for as long as I can remember.

When I started offering commissions three years ago, I never really knew where this would lead. I just knew I loved making art, and I wanted to see how far I could take it.

My husband has been quietly supporting that dream from the beginning. He’s encouraged me, believed in me, and made space for me to pursue something that matters so much to me. I honestly don’t think I’d be taking this leap without him.

Having my kids, gave me a purpose and passion I never experienced before, and now that they growing into more independent little people, I will have more time and energy to give my art.

I have a lot planned.

More original work. More commissions. New things I’ve been experimenting with. Prints are on the horizon. A website is coming. And there’s one particularly exciting project I’ve been invited to be part of that I’m very excited to tell you about… but more on that later in the year.

Three years ago, I was simply hoping I could make a little space for my art in my life.

Now I’m building my life around it.

Im terrified and excited and more than anything, I feel ready to take this leap.

To everyone who has followed along, shared my work, commissioned something, sent me a kind message, recommended me to someone, or simply stuck around to see what I’m making next: thank you. You have played a much bigger part in this than you probably realize.

I’m so proud of what I’ve built so far. I’m even more excited about what comes next.

I could pinch myself, but honestly… if it’s a dream I don’t want to wake up from it.

I’ve been so quiet on social media this summer. I’ve been busy travelling, working on commissions and trying to enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

But all that will soon change!

I have big news coming tomorrow .

Stay tuned to hear what’s in store…

Finally back from my trip to Newfoundland.

Every time I go home, I'm reminded of all the things I love about the island. What stood out to me most this visit was that it feels like every Newfoundlander is a maker.

Quilts, wooden carvings, knitted mittens, painted rocks, handmade whale stuffies, mussel shell Christmas trees, hand-knotted rugs. Creativity is in every home.

Every house I visited was filled with artwork celebrating the island and the people. Most of it was handmade by incredibly talented locals.

The arts and craft shops aren't just places to pick up a souvenir, they're showcases of the island's creativity.

One of my favourite things I kept noticing on people's walls were these sweet little rock family portraits. I loved them so much that while out on the beaches collecting treasures, I picked out a few stones to make one of my own, with all credit going to the talented makers of Newfoundland.

NEW SKETCH REVEAL

These marker and watercolor sketches are so much fun to do. Look at this handsome, happy boy.

So glad I took a foray into this style and this medium. I think I’ll be sticking with my charcoals but it’s fun to have these guys to work on from time to time.

Commissions: Closed for 2026

As of July I am fully booked for 2026 and will not be taking new commission requests!

First, I want to thank everyone for all the love. For the dozens of people who have requested portraits and the hundred who have been following along on the journey.

There will still be lots of new portrait reveals, new personal artwork reveals, and tons of surprises coming throughout 2026.

I can’t wait to fill you in on all the news.

As for commissions, I will share an update when I open them up again.

I’ve been quiet on social media lately. I’m travelling with my little ones, getting inspired in some of the most beautiful places Canada has to offer. I’m an island girl at heart and the ocean will always be my happy place.

I can’t wait to get back to my charcoals, but until then I guess this view will have to do. 🌊
