I'm not sure why this excites me so much because it's not even summer yet but I'm already dreaming of my favorite season fall! And I am giddy thinking about harvesting all of these amazing pumpkins!

Today I will be planting 11 different varieties including:

Casperita, an adorable small pure white

Grizzly Bear, an orange bumpy variety

Cinnamon Girl, great for baking pies, pumpkin breads and muffins and all things Pumpkin Spice!

Long Island Cheese, a medium - large flat and ridged pumpkin great for pies and front porch autumn decor

And many more!

How about you? Are you as big a fan of Autumn as I am?

Our 2nd succession of Sunflowers is in the ground! We are finally seeing clear rows of sprouts from our first planting on May 15 th and the rows look pretty well spaced! So that is very exciting.

Last year we tried to use an auto seeder with the sweet corn plate attached and unfortunately it was dropping so many seeds at once and then skipping a bunch. So I decided to plant the rest (hundreds 😵‍💫) by hand! This year I was not going to do that again lol so we researched and found out that the popcorn plate will do a better job handling these smaller Sunflower seeds. And it worked! Thank goodness. I will still need to go out and thin some sprouts but nothing like last year.

We also got some Kennebec Potatoes planted and some corn! It was a very busy but (I think) pretty successful weekend.

Tomorrow's job... planting Zinnia, Dahlia and Cosmo starts and hopefully another succession of Cosmo seeds.

We hope you had a great weekend too!

And it begins!....The first succession of Sunflowers is in the ground! 14 different varieties of single stem and branching types.

We are starting our successions 2 weeks early this year as an experiment 🤞 So hopefully we can have a longer season of Sunflowers this year. Last year we waited until June 1st to begin seeding but have since learned that Sunflowers can handle a little frost!

This year we have added some new kinds of Sunflowers, including:

Pro Cut White, Nite and Gold Lite
Sunfill Purple and Green
Teddy Bear and Holiday Branching

And will be bringing back all the favorites from last year including ProCut Orange and Plum and Strawberry Blonde and Rouge Royale!

We're getting excited! We hope you are too! 🌻

After a couple weeks of hardening off on the back deck the snapdragons have finally been planted in the ground! This year we decided to plant less of them because last year they produced so many! Hoping for the same results this year! This is about 150 of multiple varieties!

Snapdragons need support while growing so we applied some netting that can be raised up as they grow to help keep their stems nice and straight.

These are cool weather flowers and can handle a little frost so they (along with the Dianthus) will be the first of the seedlings to go out ☀️🌱

Happy growing! 🌱🌸

Checking for sprouts and we've got lots! 🌱👍🌻 Our Teddy Pots are on their way.

Amos's next job will be to thin these guys out (he planted 2 seeds per pot) so he will choose the weaker looking sprout and pull it out!

It's not an easy task to pull out a perfectly nice looking sprout but it's got to be done to give the other one the most nutrients from the soil!

Amos planted all of the Teddy Bear Sunflower Pots for our summer kids grow along!

These shaggy, cheerful blooms are branching, dwarf Sunflowers and will grow to approximately 8" tall with 3-5" heads! And since they are a branching variety, the more you cut, the more will bloom!

These adorable Teddy Pots will be available June 1st and will come with some other fun Sunflower themed goodies!!

Super easy to care for, Sunflowers only need a sunny spot and a weekly watering. Plant yours in your garden or grow it right in the pot!

Let's grow together this summer!

Just placed an order from for some more fruit trees for our orchard! 2 apples (Prairie Magic and Odyssey) and some raspberry canes (Pathfinder and Killarney) Now just to figure out how to keep the birds from eating the fruit!

Do you have any tips? Do fake owls really work? 🦉

Today I started the Raspberry Cream Gomphrena for our Cut Flower Garden Kits!! And if these are anything like the big batch I seeded on Monday, we should see sprouts by Friday!

Gomphrena, also known as Globe Amaranth, can be used fresh or dried, to add a playful, delicate, and diverse texture in bouquets and arrangements.

Winter sowing update! I was just saying to Steve yesterday that I didn't think the winter sown Snapdragons were going to work out and then I went to check on them today and we've got sprouts!!

I'm so excited for these because they were just an experiment this year to see if we could save some space under the grow lights and just start them in containers on the back deck. I will keep you updated on the seedling progress! 😊

Still no word from the Poppies...

We have Flowering To***co sprouts! This variety called Peacher Screamer has beautiful rosey peach, cupped flowers with greyish-green, heart shaped leaves. Their airy wands make a lovely addition to summer bouquets.

We are so excited to be growing them this year!
