Sock ideas on Ravelry 🧦

Have you casted on any socks yet? I was perusing Ravelry last week prepping for Knots & Thoughts when I came across some super fun new sock patterns. Thought I would share them here too.

To add in pops of colour or do colourwork, these sock patterns would require leftovers or mini skeins. Naughton Yarns has a great selection of her solid colourways in mini versions currently in stock at Sweet Yarns. (We also have a jar of smaller leftovers that you could also use.) I’ve got one of Valerie’s greens in my turtle socks I’m working on. There is also a plethora of full skeins in gorgeous colourways to choose from as well.

Any socks you complete this month can be counted in both our Sock-A-Palooza competition and Small Project Summer Bingo. And make sure you are sharing any and all projects you’re working on this Summer in our Sweet Yarnies’ group on Facebook. It’s inspiring to see what everyone is working on.

Make sure to join in the fun from wherever you are this Summer and don’t leave your crafting behind.

Come hang out with your fibre friends this week!

SPECIAL HOURS THIS WEEK ONLY!! ⏰

Our monthly Makers Meet Up happens is this week. Because of this, there’s a change in hours. Both Wednesday and Thursday will be later hours.

Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome at our Makers Meet Up on Wednesday night. If you'd like to join in the fun, message me to reserve a spot.

Can’t make it Wednesday night? Join in our other weekly crafting events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Saturday is going to be extra special with our Knit In Public Day session happening first thing in the morning. Grab a lawn chair and a project (crochet is also welcome) and come join us. We’ll be hanging out on the sidewalk in front of the store.

Anyone stay up until after midnight so they could cast on? ⏰

Feel free to share progress pictures on any of the socks you’re working on throughout the month. I’ll make sure to look for your completed entries and add them into our counts and draws.

Sock-A-Palooza 🧦

It's time!! May is almost over which means our fun sock competition is about to begin.

Today and tomorrow, take some time to share your sock WIP in our Sweet Yarnies group.

Remember to post:
🧶 the group you are in
🧶 the pattern you are using
🧶 the yarn you are using

One WIP entry per participant. WIP needs to be less than half done (no gussets, no heels).

June = Socks 🧦

Counting down the days until June starts and all the fun begins! Isn’t it lovely that it even feels like Summer today?!?

The month of June will be all about (ok, mostly about) socks!

First up is our Sock Class. I’m teaching a toe up sock class on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 4. If you are ready to try out socks for the first time or want some help with something new to you in socks, this class is for you. There’s still time to sign up. (If you need a different day and time, I’m happy to work that out too.)

For our ninth year in a row, we’re doing our fun competition Sock-A-Palooza! We’re making as many socks as we can to see if we can top last year’s count. Starting WIP posting days are this Saturday and Sunday. Watch for the posts! If you need to go over any of the rules, you can find them on the website under Small Project Summer.

Speaking of Small Project Summer, the Bingo fun starts on Monday too. Until the end of August, we’ll be trying to complete small projects to fill in our whole Bingo card (or at least as many squares as we can). You can purchase your own Bingo card in store or online. There are a few extra squares to switch out ones that don’t apply to you. Each project you complete can fit up to three Bingo squares if needed.

If you need supplies, the shelves are well stocked with new stuff arriving monthly. Stop in soon and see what’s new.

Bingo cards are ready!!! 🎉 What a job! I forgot how much work it is to figure out all the new things. 😆

All the details are up on the website – the Bingo stuff has its very own page. You can stop by Sweet Yarns to purchase your Bingo card, go over everything and ask any questions. (As this is our first year, there will be some kinks to work out.)

Make sure to check out all the Small Project Summer things while you’re on the website – Competitions, Classes and Bingo.

I’ve posted all the rules for Sock-A-Palooza, Mitten Mania and Toque Off. Nothing has changed with those so if you’ve participated before you’re already in the know.

And you can sign up for any of the three classes too. I’ve scheduled them for Wednesday afternoons, but if you need a different day or time, I’m happy to accommodate you.

I’m so looking forward to the next few months and all the fun we’re going to have doing Small Project Summer. 🧶⛱️
