Celebrate autumn with our Fall Making Party. 🍂🎃🦇🐈We’ll gather to work on any fall-themed project you’d like. In past years, we’ve made pumpkins; this year’s theme is Bats and Cats, but you’re welcome to bring any project that inspires you. The cost is $5.00 for the day, and we’ll have treats and a great time.

Projects can be anything—stuffies, décor, accessories, and more. Last time, I crocheted pumpkin coasters; this year, I’m thinking about an adorable bat or a cute black cat. Ravelry has plenty of knit and crochet patterns, so take a look there or stop by the store and I’ll help you narrow down your options.

Are you ready to learn? Get your Fibre Education at Sweet Yarns.

Dates and costs have been all worked out for our fall line up of classes. We’ve got some new ones I’m teaching for the first time and I’m so excited.

First up is colourwork, one of my favourite knitting techniques. After having so much fun crocheting dragons, I’m excited to offer it as a class. We’ll also explore a new sock-making method: knitting a tube first, then adding the heels and toes afterward. All the details are on the website and you can sign up there too.

The Fall Making Party is also on the schedule. In past years, we’ve made pumpkins; this year’s theme is bats and cats, though you’re welcome to make anything you like. Come spend the day crafting fall-themed projects with your fibre friends.

Every day at the yarn shop is a chance to be inspired by colour combinations and pattern ideas. Sometimes it is a little overwhelming though (even for me) with a plethora of options, so I thought I’d give you a little snapshot of some colour match ups that are on the shelves right now.

Celebrate Canadian pride with classic Hudson Bay-inspired colours, try a playful sock monkey look with a new Estelle Worsted colourway, or get an early start on Christmas gifts and décor with traditional holiday shades. Whether you’re planning socks, hats, mittens, ornaments, or cozy home accents, these colour combinations are a great way to spark ideas and make your next project feel fun, seasonal, and personal.

Hard to believe that tonight is our last Makers Meet Up of the summer. It’s been wonderful getting together every week with all of you and seeing all the progress on your projects.

Starting in September (next week), we’re back to monthly Makers Meet Up. We plan to meet the second Wednesday of each month. Make sure to save this post and add the dates to your calendar so you don’t miss the chance to hang out with your fibre friends.

Treat yourself or the knitter in your life with the 2026 Christmas Advent Calendar. 🎁

Naughton Yarns and Sweet Yarns are teaming up once again to put together a 12-Day Advent Calendar. Inside you’ll find twelve individually wrapped treasures that will lead into Sweet Yarns’ New Year Knit-A-Long. Included will be mini skeins and a full skein of fi*****ng weight yarn, as well as some other goodies that will go along with our shawl project.

Early bird special pricing – order before October 1st and get your advent calendar for $150.00 instead of $175.00. (Discount automatically applied at check out.) Preorders close Sunday, November 1st. The Christmas Advents will be ready for pick up and mailing around the beginning of December.

Couple of notes:
🧶Lauren won’t be putting together a Sweet Yarns’ Christmas Gift this year as she will be busy working with Valerie on the Advent Calendar.
🧶If the Advent Calendar is outside your budget, Sweet Yarns will have other options for you to still participate in the New Year Knit-A-Long. Details coming soon.

Hard to believe that Summer is almost over. It’s been such a fun time of working on all kinds of projects, taking classes and catching up with fibre friends.

The end of August means that it’s the end of Toque Off (watch for the reminder posts), but it also means it’s the end of SPS Bingo. Whether you completed a line, the whole card, or something in between, I need to see your card to put your entries into the draw. Every line gets you an entry, and a full card gets you an extra entry accompanied by $10 Bella Bucks.

Ways to “show” me your card by closing on Saturday, September 12:
• Stop by Sweet Yarns with it
• Post a final picture in our Sweet Yarnies’ group on Facebook
• Email or message me a picture of it

The winner will be announced on our Knots and Thoughts (Facebook Live) at the end of September or beginning of October. (I need to get the prize first.)
