I’m Crystal Norris, a creative based in Ontario, Canada. I draw inspiration from the beautiful outdoors around me, as well as from unexpected, everyday moments. A color palette might come from a shirt, a sign, or something I notice while out and about—so I always keep my phone handy to capture inspiration for later. My love for art began in childhood, where I was constantly drawing and coloring. T

hat passion carried into high school, where I majored in arts and computers, and later led me to study Graphic Arts Design for a year at a technical college in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After my family moved back to Ontario, life took a busy turn. I had my two children in my early twenties, and while raising them kept me on my toes, I always found moments to return to painting and other creative pursuits. Over the years, I participated in many craft shows, sharing my handmade work with others. More recently, I was given the opportunity to pursue art full-time. I relocated from my hometown of Dryden to Sudbury to be closer to family and to plant new roots. I’ve since joined the Sudbury Art Club, excited to connect with like-minded creatives and become part of my new artistic community. You’ll notice that I don’t really have a single “style.” With an ADHD, neuro-spicy brain, I’m constantly inspired to explore new ideas, techniques, subjects, and mediums. While I’m actively working toward building more cohesive collections, I embrace variety as an essential part of my creative voice. Looking ahead, I hope to continue expanding my artistic practice. I enjoy everything from painting to digital work and have experience creating logos and branding. Whether working with a brush or a keyboard, I love the creative process and the freedom to explore where it leads.

People sometimes feel they need to be able to articulate why they want a particular work before they are allowed to buy it. That is not how it works.

The attraction does not need a defense. You do not have to be able to explain Lookout to someone who asks; you just have to know it belongs in your space.

The explanation, if you want one, tends to arrive later on its own.

Every work that reaches a collector is the result of many decisions, including the decision not to show what came before it.

The finished work is not the whole story. It is the end of a longer, quieter process that most collectors never see.

When you live with Dawn at Pine Point Maine, you are living with the result of the artistic process and all that comes with it.

Fresh off the easel, "Iridescent Isles"! This is my first ever textured piece! I mixed up some gesso and spackle and it worked! Lol! This painting is a response to a challenge put out to the members of the Sudbury Art Club. It was to use Benjamin Moore's color of the year, "Silhouette", which is this dark and moody grey brown. This went in a completely different direction than I had originally planned but I couldn't be happier with it! It was so fun! This will be available for purchase and to see in Sudbury, ON at Barrydowne Paint, the Long Lake location I believe is where it will be hung. ( if that changes I'll post).

This is not what I pictured when I took being an artist to a full-time gig. But there are so many ways of being creative and this is so much fun! Two of my favorite things, animals and art, combined into one unique project! Sketches for custom paint kits for a rescue farm! Stay tuned for final sketches and farm info!

Well, my first paint night in Sudbury was a great success! We had so much fun! What a great group of ladies! Thanks to all who came out! Special thanks to Josee (aka Dr. Josee) for helping me get this off the ground and get my first one in the books! You are amazing and I can't thank you enough! ❤️

Interior designers often talk about sightlines. They're the natural path your eye travels when you enter or move through a room.

Most people never think about this consciously, but they feel it. Art placed directly in a sightline changes a room immediately.

Placement is as intentional as the work itself.

Could I have researched a trusted recipe for this? Yes
Would I then have the peace of mind knowing it will absolutely work?
Also yes.
Would it be as fun as me just mixing some things together and trying myself?
Absolutely not!! 🤣

Part of this journey I am on, is learning to trust my gut/myself/my intuition again. Each little win, little confirmation, reinstills that part of me to keep trusting myself and my decisions.
You may not understand, and that's ok. It's my journey. And just like everyone's decisions are personal and based on beliefs, values and past experiences, so is art.
Every piece of art has different aspects of us that have touched it..
Art isn't just something arranged on the canvas to appeal to someone. It's little moments of doubt, of belief, of intuition and mad chaos! It's pieces of us.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

"Bubblepop" and my other work are connected to the people who love them, not just the places they're displayed.
