I don’t post about LARP much on here, but it’s actually one of the biggest parts of my creative life — and if you like my work with bones, oddities, and creature-making… this is where a lot of that energy comes from.
I’m a staff member with Forgotten Empires LARP in New Brunswick, and over the last season I’ve been heavily involved in building the world itself — not just the story element, but actually building the physical world and environment that players step into. One of my favourite projects was a massive Bone Tree installation, built from roughly two tote bins worth of real, cleaned animal bone. It was assembled as part of the set dressing for the season, turning the space into something that felt surreal and nightmarish.
At LARP (I’m sure you will not be surprised), I play many things stitched together from bone and antler. I have some images here of one of those creatures- a forest-spirit, a forgotten god, something like that. I like the idea that nature itself can turn strange if you look at it long enough.
If you’ve ever wanted to actually step inside a living fantasy world — where you are the character, the story reacts to you, and the environment is built to feel immersive, eerie, and beautiful — please come check us out at Forgotten Empires LARP.
