The association of Interior Designers of Nova Scotia (IDNS), is a self-regulating organization governed by the Interior Designers Act, which is a statute of the Government of Nova Scotia. IDNS was established in 1975 and is affiliated with the national association, the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC). An act passed by the Nova Scotia Legislature limits the use of the title "Interior Designer" t

o registered members of IDNS. IDNS is committed to promoting and furthering the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members, and administering the Interior Designers Act, in order that the public interest may be served and protected. IDNS upholds excellence in the profession by establishing stringent education, experience and examination standards for membership, as well as continuing education and a code of ethics by which interior designers maintain their right to practice in the province of Nova Scotia

Would you like to join the IDNS team?

IDNS is looking for an individual to join our Board of Directors as our Public Member for terms from March 2026 to March 2028 with a possible option to renew for a second two-year term. IDNS is the regulatory body in Nova Scotia responsible for protection of the public through self-regulation of the Interior Design profession.

Expectations: The role is to represent the public on the board of IDNS, lending a voice and perspective beyond that of the Interior Design profession.

Responsibilities Include: Attending approximately 5 Board Meetings per year and 5 General Membership meetings per year. Additionally, service on projects or committees may be appropriate at the discretion of the Public Member.

How to apply: Please submit your resume along with a brief letter describing why you would like to serve on the IDNS Board of Directors. Please feel welcome to include the strengths, experience and perspectives that you could bring to the Board as well as what the experience might bring you.
