❤️ An Open Letter to Our Community — From Our Hearts to Yours ❤️
We’ve been sitting with some thoughts lately, and today we wanted to share them with you.
Recently, we’ve learned that two more small businesses in our area are closing their doors.
And if we’re being truthful, it makes our hearts a little heavy.
Because as small business owners ourselves, we know that behind those doors are so much more than shelves, products, and a cash register.
There are dreams.
There are sacrifices.
There are early mornings, late nights, worries that follow you home, and moments when you wonder if all the hard work is making a difference.
There are people who have put a piece of themselves into creating something they hoped their community would love.
And when those doors close for the last time, it’s not just a business that’s lost. It’s someone’s dream, and another little piece of our small-town community.
❤️ So today, Amber and I want to say something that perhaps we don’t say often enough.
Thank you. Truly, from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you for walking through our doors.
Thank you for coming in just to browse, even when you don’t buy a thing.
Thank you for stopping to chat, sharing a laugh, telling us about your day, or simply popping in to see what’s new.
Thank you for choosing us when you need a birthday gift, a little something for yourself, a locally made treat, or a thoughtful surprise for someone you love.
Thank you for supporting the incredible local makers and vendors who trust us to showcase their creations.
Thank you for sharing our posts, recommending us to a friend, and telling someone, “You should go check out that little boutique in Hensall!”
You may never realize just how much those little things mean to us. But they mean everything.
When we opened Hensall House Boutique, we weren’t just opening a store.
We were building a dream together. A mother and daughter, taking a chance on something we believed in.
We wanted to create a space that felt warm, welcoming, and a little different. A place where you could find beautiful things, discover local talent, and feel like you were visiting friends rather than simply walking into a shop.
A place where nobody feels pressured to spend money just to be welcome.
Because to us, you are never just another customer.
You’re our neighbours. Our friends. Our community.
And every time that door opens, we’re reminded of why we started this journey.
We also understand that life is expensive right now. Families are stretching their dollars, priorities have changed, and sometimes there simply isn’t extra money to spend.
We get it. We really do.
And we never want anyone to feel guilty about that.
But we do hope that when you have a choice, you’ll remember the little businesses tucked into the streets of your own community.
Because sometimes supporting local is as simple as picking up a $5 treat, choosing a birthday gift from a small shop, sharing a Facebook post, or telling someone about a place you love.
Those little choices add up to something much bigger.
They help keep lights on.
They help local makers continue creating.
They help dreams keep growing.
And they help keep our small towns alive.
❤️ And we want you to know something else.
Amber and I aren’t planning on going anywhere.
We have so many dreams and ideas still ahead of us.
We want to keep growing, keep bringing you beautiful and unexpected finds, keep supporting our local vendors, and keep making Hensall House Boutique a place you’re happy to visit.
We’re proud of what we’ve built, but even more than that, we’re grateful for the people who have helped us build it.
And that’s YOU.
We don’t take a single visit, purchase, kind word, or recommendation for granted.
Not one.
So as we watch other small businesses close their doors, our hearts go out to the people behind them. We know how much courage it takes to open those doors in the first place.
And we hope their stories remind all of us just how valuable our local businesses really are.
Because a thriving small town doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when a community chooses to support the people and places that make it special.
From one small-town family to another, thank you for believing in us.
Thank you for giving our dream a place to grow.
And most of all, thank you for making Hensall House Boutique feel like so much more than a store.
You’ve helped make it feel like home. ❤️
With so much love and gratitude,
Teresa & Amber ❤️
