PIMA II is my recent 13” spalted maple plate with basket weave design. The pattern was inspired by typical Pima tribe basket of south western California. The plate can be displayed on a stand or hung from the recessed grove on the back. Will be on display at Priest Mill Art Centre in Alexandria ON.

Two of my pieces are being exhibited in the juried show at Cline House Gallery in Cornwall, ON. The show runs from January 28 to February 28. Both are maple wood and India ink. I’ve named the plate “Laced” and the vase “Hidden Gems”. The vase pattern is inspired by typical Acoma pottery designs.

It’s an honour when your woodturned vessel gets selected for two awards by some of the finest woodturners in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario regions. I’m a member of Ottawa Valley Woodturners club, . Every year the club asks members to submit entries for two awards: “Turning of the Year” award and “Marion McGee” award. This year, this piece was selected for both of those awards.

This 11” maple bowl was completed as a commission. 11” in diameter. The front and back of the rim were decorated with about 5200 beads. The pattern was inspired by African basketry designs. It’s being shipped to Florida as a gift. # basketweaveillusion
