I’ve realized I don’t actually know how to not create.

Interiors, art, furniture, murals, styling, weird little ideas I decide I need to figure out how to make. It all scratches the same part of my brain.

Sometimes the right piece for your home doesn’t exist yet. Sometimes we need to draw it, customize it, hunt it down, have it made or come up with something completely different.

That’s my favourite part of design….figuring out what makes your home feel like yours.

So hi, I’m Christine. Designer, artist, maker, mom and the human behind Studio Mack.

Very glad you’re here.

Victoria’s Chinatown has a complex history tied to the o***m trade of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This unique lounge concept became about responding to the past without replicating it.

Oversized paper lanterns. A moody, restrained palette. Natural stone, warm woods, aged brass and tactile textiles. References to traditional Chinese art and architecture interpreted through a more contemporary lens.

The result was a space that feels like it belongs to the building, but belongs in the present.

Maybe you’ve found the building. You have the business idea. You know you want the space to feel memorable, but you can’t quite see what it could become yet.

That’s where I can come in.

Before you commit to a full design, renovation or build, I develop the bigger idea first. The visual direction, atmosphere, material palette and the moments that will make the space worth remembering.

It gives you something much more valuable than a collection of inspiration images. It gives you a clear vision for what you’re actually investing in… and if it even makes sense from a profitability standpoint.

For business owners, developers and anyone considering a property with potential, concept design can be the difference between simply renovating a space and creating somewhere people want to experience.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out before reaching out. Sometimes you just need the right idea for the space.

Victoria’s Chinatown has a complex history tied to the o***m trade of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Rather than recreate an o***m den or turn that history into a theme, the concept was about responding to the past without replicating it.

Oversized paper lanterns, a moody restrained palette, natural stone, warm woods, aged brass and tactile textiles. References to traditional Chinese art and architecture interpreted through a contemporary lens.

The result is a space that feels connected to the building and its history, while still feeling entirely current.

This is also exactly why I offer concept design.

Sometimes you have the building and the idea, but you need to see what it could actually become before committing to a full design and build.

I develop the concept, visual direction, suggested materials and key design moments first, giving you a chance to see the potential and decide whether the vision and investment make sense.

I’m bummed this space never came to fruition so it’ll live here now.
