Every beautiful space begins here, where every material is carefully considered, every finish has a purpose, and every selection is made in relation to the next.

Thoughtful design isn't about choosing beautiful materials. It's about choosing the right materials to work beautifully together.

17 years of working together looks a little something like this. 🤍

A few polished photos, a few questionable ones, and plenty of laughs in between.

Tracy and Carrie have spent nearly two decades designing together, solving problems, making countless decisions and, naturally, developing a few strong opinions along the way.

So we put them in front of the camera to talk about some of their biggest design pet peeves. And after 17 years in the industry together, they have a few. 😏

Stay tuned for Tea Time with Tracy & Carrie (working title) to drop soon.

Progress is happening at our Modern Layers project in Brandon, and the flooring installation is officially underway.

One of the biggest misconceptions in home design is that every room needs the same flooring to feel cohesive. In reality, thoughtfully selecting different flooring materials can better define each space while creating a home that feels layered, intentional, and true to its architecture.

For this mid century modern inspired home, we're combining luxury vinyl plank and tile throughout the home. Each material has been selected for its function, durability, and aesthetic, while working together through a consistent colour palette and complementary textures.

Cohesive design doesn't come from using the same material everywhere. It comes from making every design decision work together.

When you hear terms like aging in place or accessible design, what comes to mind?

For many people, it's a space that feels clinical, institutional, or designed around limitations.

We see it differently.

That's why we talk about Inclusive Design.

Inclusive Design is about creating beautiful homes that support the way you live today while thoughtfully preparing for tomorrow. It's about wider pathways that don't feel obvious, curbless showers that look luxurious, layered lighting that enhances comfort, and storage that's easier for everyone to use.

The goal isn't to make your home look accessible. The goal is to make it work beautifully for every stage of life, without compromising style.

The best Inclusive Design is often the design you don't notice. It simply feels effortless, functional, and welcoming.

Because great design should never force you to choose between beauty and practicality.

When most people think about interior design, they picture paint colours, finishes, and beautiful completed spaces.

What they don't see is everything happening behind the scenes.

Coordinating trades. Reviewing site conditions. Managing schedules. Troubleshooting unexpected issues. Tracking materials. Answering questions. Making decisions. Solving problems.

Project management is one of the most important parts of a successful renovation because it keeps hundreds of moving pieces working together toward a single vision.

In many cases, challenges arise and are resolved long before the homeowner ever knows they existed.

That's the value of having an experienced team managing the details, so you can focus on the excitement of watching your space come to life.

Every beautiful space begins with a collection of thoughtful decisions.

Material selections are about so much more than choosing what looks good together. Every finish, texture, and colour is carefully considered for how it complements the overall design, performs in everyday life, and reflects the people who call the space home.

This palette pairs warm wood tones, rich olive green tile, soft textured fabrics, natural stone, and aged brass accents to create a space that feels grounded, timeless, and inviting.

It's these details, layered with intention, that transform a collection of materials into a home that feels beautifully cohesive.

The best design moments aren't always the biggest ones.

Sometimes, they're found in the unexpected details.

Instead of a traditional vanity mirror, we designed this custom composition with an arched mirror nestled behind a floating wood shelf. The result is a feature that feels architectural, adds visual interest, provides a practical display space, and gives this guest bathroom its own personality.

We don't design around trends. We design around homes that feel intentional, timeless, and uniquely suited to the people who live in them. Sometimes that means rethinking the "usual" and creating something that feels just right.

It's thoughtful details like these that make a space memorable long after the renovation is complete.

Would you choose a mirror like this over a traditional vanity mirror? Let us know in the comments.

Creativity, experience, and an eye for the details that matter. Meet Carrie, our Senior Interior Designer.

For Carrie, great design has never been just about creating beautiful spaces. It's about creating homes that truly support the people who live in them.

With more than 15 years of residential interior design experience, Carrie has guided countless homeowners through renovations and new builds with a calm, collaborative approach. From the first conversation to the final styling touches, she helps clients navigate every decision with confidence, making even the most complex projects feel manageable.

After earning her Bachelor of Environmental Design (Interiors) from the University of Manitoba, Carrie joined S3 Interior Design in 2009 and has been an integral part of our team ever since. She achieved her NCIDQ certification in 2017 and recently earned her Professional Interior Designer (PIDIM) designation, a reflection of her dedication to both her clients and her profession.

One of Carrie's favourite parts of every project isn't selecting finishes or creating floor plans (although she loves that too!). It's building lasting relationships with her clients and designing spaces that feel authentically them.

When she's away from the studio, you'll find Carrie spending time with her husband, Travis, and their son, Daxton. Whether they're cheering from the sidelines at a sporting event, exploring the outdoors, or tackling another home project together, they're always making memories.

We're lucky to have Carrie's creativity, expertise, and steady presence helping bring our clients' dream homes to life.

Meet Tracy, the fearless founder and leader of S3 Interior Design.

Long before she became an Interior Designer, Tracy was designing her dream bedroom inspired by the I Dream of Jeannie bottle, building Barbie houses instead of playing with the dolls, and creating furniture collages from the Sears catalogue. While other kids were asking for toys, Tracy was probably critiquing floor plans. 😂

Her passion for design started early... and honestly, not much has changed. (Just wait until the last photo. Little Tracy was already giving "future Interior Designer" energy.)

That passion led her from the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Architecture to earning a Bachelor of Interior Design from Louisiana State University, followed by NCIDQ certification as a Professional Interior Designer. Most recently, she became a CHBA Qualified Adaptiv Home Specialist, bringing even more expertise in designing homes that support accessibility, independence, and beautiful living at every stage of life.

When she's not helping clients transform their homes, you'll find Tracy spending time with her husband Kevin, enjoying summers at their "trabin" in Lac du Bonnet, or chasing their two adventurous daughters around the world. (And yes... she still notices the design details everywhere she goes. Some habits never go away.)

Swipe through to get to know the person behind S3. And don't forget to make it to the last photo... we promise it's worth it. ❤️
