I had the chance to create the flowers for a celebration of life and along the way I met another artist who really encouraged me to just play and be creative. I was given a lot of freedom with the pieces, but was encouraged to mix textures, fresh flowers with dried flowers, and really focus on the feeling and energy each piece conveyed
If you didn’t know, I actually have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and majored in sculpture. It’s been about 5 + years since I graduated, and I think I’d forgotten a little bit about that expressive, curious side of myself
This experience was a nice reminder to slow down, play around, and really notice the beauty in what’s around me — especially the garden in all its different stages
I feel really honoured that his family trusted me with this task and I’m grateful for this little reminder. As well as all the connections Ive made while building up this flower farm 🤍
