I met Brinley during a mentoring session at Fanshawe’s Interior Design program.

At the time, I wasn’t looking to fill a co-op position. But after the session, Brinley took the initiative to approach me about opportunities with our firm. She made the connection happen—and that, in itself, said so much about her.

Initiative matters. It’s the kind of quality we look for in the people who join our firm.

Over the past four months, she has become a valued part of our team. She’s brought enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, and it has genuinely been a joy having her with us.

Brinley in her own words:
"I am an Interior Design Co-op Student with Ana Cole Interiors while completing my Bachelor of Interior Design degree, with an expected graduation in 2027. I have a passion for designing beautiful and functional spaces and learning new skills with every project. I enjoy the creativity, problem-solving, and thoughtful details that go into great designs, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside such an inspiring team this summer."

We wish Brinley all the best as she returns to Fanshawe to complete her education.

2026 marks 10 years of Ana Cole Interiors.

Looking back, I don't think I ever chose design. I think it chose me.

As a little girl growing up in a tiny village in Europe, my sister and I would spend hours setting up homes for our dolls. More often than not, by the time we had finished creating the perfect little home, we'd be too tired to actually play.

It took me years to realize that that was the play.

I always knew I was creative, but I didn't know interior design was even a career. I pursued the arts, believing that was the practical path, until one afternoon, after months of watching with my mum, something clicked. I remember thinking, This is it. I enrolled in interior design and never looked back.

What began as a love of beautiful spaces quickly became something much deeper. I discovered that I didn't just love the curation of beautiful objects and details, but the process of bringing order to chaos.

Only recently I understood why.

Leaving everything behind, immigrating to Canada due to war, and growing up with uncertainty taught me something I couldn't have put into words. I was always searching for a sense of safety. And without realizing it, I found it in the environments I created.

The irony isn't lost on me that after spending years building a secure career, I walked away from it to start a business—arguably one of the least "safe" decisions a person can make. Yet somehow, over the last decade, that leap has allowed me to create something far greater than I ever imagined: a business dedicated to creating spaces where others feel safe.

Every challenge and triumph has become part of this story.

Ten years later, I'm filled with gratitude. For every person who entrusted me and my brilliant team with their home, for every lesson along the way, and for the little girl who thought arranging dollhouses was simply how everyone played.

Turns out, she already knew exactly who she was becoming.

Here's to the next chapter. 🤍
