Well, I guess I’ll have a funny story about the first batch of BBQ tools I built for a retail partner. It’s a story about how starting and running a small business isn’t Instagram pretty, no matter the filter you put on it.

has two events next week and we both wanted to have these ready for them. I had the sticks ready to go but it didn’t look like the stainless pieces would arrive in Halifax from my manufacturer in Manitoba before I had to leave to Newfoundland for a work trip.

Solution? Have my manufacturer ship the stainless pieces out to my cousin who lives about an hour from where I was staying and I’d pick them up and build them in the rented trailer I’m staying in while I’m at this job site.

I packed up the sticks, which I cut before I left home, and all my materials that I’d need to put everything together, and threw it all in my truck for the drive over.

As stressed out as I was about receiving the pieces in time, it’s pretty cool to sit back after getting half of them done and being able to laugh at it. I have no doubt this is a story I’ll tell over a beer a few times.

It’s a bit fitting I guess that this first batch is being sold in Newfoundland and they’re not just made in Canada, but made right here in Newfoundland as well.

I think the best part about this is that I get to hand deliver the very first batch of my tools to my friend Jason who will be selling them in his shop in Deer Lake, NL.

I hope everyone who purchases a set, feels good about supporting minor hockey in their community and can feel everything I’ve put in to these tools to make them the most impactful piece of your BBQ arsenal.

Tenderloin is far from my favourite cut of beef but this whole tenderloin from was amazing.

Seasoned with Beer League BBQ’s upcoming beef rub, smoked at 250, and hit with a reverse sear to a perfect medium rare at the thick end and medium at the thinner end to hit everyone at the table’s preference.
