One of my favourite parts of this job has nothing to do with starting from scratch.

This client has been with me almost since the beginning. She walked into my Lucan store looking for help with pillows… and somehow those pillows turned into years of working together. 🥹

Today I was back at her home working on some exterior plans and making a few little tweaks inside, and it reminded me of something I really believe about design:

It doesn’t always have to be new to feel new.

I actually “shop” my clients’ homes all the time. We move art, restyle shelves, swap pieces between rooms, pull something out that hasn’t been used in a while and suddenly see it completely differently. Sometimes we add something new, but so often the best piece is already there — it just needs a new home.

I have clients like this one who bring me back a couple times a year simply to refresh things, and I LOVE it.

I didn’t go to design school, so I can’t tell you if everything I do is the “textbook” way. 😂 I’ve always designed much more by feeling. Does the room feel balanced? Does it feel like you? Do you walk in and get that little butterfly feeling in your stomach?

Today, we both did. And that’s usually how I know we got it right.

There’s something really special about slowing down and realizing that some of the clients who trusted me at the very beginning are still inviting me into their homes all these years later. I’ll take these long-term relationships over a quick project any day!

Before you buy something new for your home, try shopping your own home first. You might be surprised by what you already have.

Stairs.

Growing up, I never imagined I’d one day have an obsession with staircases… but here we are.

These turned out even better than I envisioned, and we made the sweetest little play area underneath. I need an updated photo! Proof that every inch of a home can be beautiful and functional.

Something about this season of life has pulled me back to the foundation of why I started designing in the first place.

Not perfection. Not trends. Not making homes feel untouchable.

Just creating spaces that feel good to live in. Spaces that tell your story. Spaces that work for your real life.

The show reminded me of that in the best way possible. It brought me back to the heart behind everything we do.

So with that… our new design website is officially live. 🦋

We’ve brought back virtual design packages, consultations, hourly consulting, and simplified the entire process to make design feel more accessible no matter your budget or where you live.

Last week’s episode was a big one. The comment I hear most is, “I can only imagine what your house looks like…”

Well… now you get to see it. This is our real life.

Nothing comes easy over here. There have been a lot of sacrifices behind the scenes to chase the goals we’re working toward and Glencoe has been one of our biggest challenges yet.

In the middle of all of that, we also helped Allyse and Cale create a home that finally feels like them and that’s what makes it all worth it.
