CAN A 6-YEAR-OLD PAINT THE AURORA? 🌌🎨
Yes — and with acrylic too. 👀
This time, my 6-year-old student tried painting the Northern Lights with acrylic paint.
From mixing the blues, creating the glowing light in the sky, to adding the snowy landscape — step by step, the painting started to come alive.
At this age, it’s not about making everything perfect.
It’s about trying something new and realizing, “Hey, I can actually do this.” ✨

CAN A 7-YEAR-OLD DRAW LUFFY? 👒🏴‍☠️

今次同一位7歲學生一齊挑戰畫《海賊王》路飛！由觀察臉形、五官比例，到勾線同上色，一步一步完成。

畫得似唔似當然重要，但我更欣賞佢願意觀察、嘗試，同埋有耐性完成整幅作品。7歲畫成點？睇到最後就知！🎨

This time, my 7-year-old student and I took on the challenge of drawing Luffy! We worked step by step—from observing the facial features and proportions to outlining and colouring.

Drawing isn’t only about making it look perfect. It’s also about learning to observe, try and finish what you started.

學生畫咗幾筆、填咗少少顏色，突然覺得唔鍾意，決定唔再畫。

但我覺得，幅畫只係未完成，未必真係唔得。

為咗唔浪費張紙，我接手將佢完成。原來有時候，一幅畫需要嘅唔係放棄，而係換一個方向繼續落去。🎨

你覺得救唔救得返？😆

My student stopped after just a few strokes because they didn’t like the drawing anymore.

Instead of wasting the paper, I decided to take over and finish it.

Sometimes, a drawing isn’t bad—it’s just unfinished.

A tiger doesn’t have to look the same in every child’s eyes. 🐯🎨

This tiger was created by a 7-year-old student, with his own choices of lines, colours and decorative details.

Learning how to draw is important — proportions, shapes, lines and colours are all skills we practise. But I also want students to have room to make their own choices.

Because art shouldn’t always have one “correct” answer.

Sometimes the most interesting part of a child’s artwork is the part we never taught them to add.

🐯 **At 7 years old, drawing a tiger isn’t only about “Does it look real?”**

每個小朋友眼中的老虎，都不應該一模一樣。🐯🎨

這幅老虎出自一位7歲小朋友，除了老虎本身，他亦加入了自己的線條、顏色和裝飾細節。

畫畫當然要學技巧——比例、形狀、線條、顏色，這些我們都會慢慢練習。

但我更希望在技巧以外，留一點空間給小朋友自己決定。

因為畫畫，不應該永遠只有一個「正確答案」。

有時一幅小朋友作品最有趣的地方，
正正就是老師沒有叫他畫的那一部分。

A 9-year-old student created this drawing using the drawing and colouring techniques we’ve been practising in class. 🎨
For me, learning art should always start with interest.
Instead of asking children to draw something they don’t connect with, I prefer to begin with subjects they genuinely enjoy. From there, we can slowly introduce proportion, linework, colour, shading and other techniques along the way.
When they finish something they truly wanted to draw, that sense of achievement becomes motivation.
And that motivation is what keeps them drawing. ✏️
9歲學生運用課堂上學過嘅畫畫同上色技巧，完成咗自己鍾意嘅「鯉魚龍」。🎨
其實我一直覺得，畫畫呢個興趣，第一步唔係技巧，而係鍾意。
小朋友要鍾意畫畫，不如先由佢哋真正想畫嘅東西開始。
再喺過程入面慢慢教比例、線條、上色、光暗同其他技巧。
當佢哋最後成功完成一幅自己真正想畫嘅作品，得到嗰份成功感，就自然會想繼續畫落去。
技巧可以慢慢學，
但先讓佢哋喜歡畫畫，先係最重要。🎨
