There have been times when I have gotten bored of my own work, too many of them to count, since I started on this creative journey. That’s when I usually take a short break, read, watch, observe and this is what I have been doing most of February. Worked on so many ideas which were churning in my head for quite a while, now translating them onto the canvas.

This one shows a contrast of freedom and captivity, one’s inner struggle to maintain that independence without disturbing the chaos around, I am calling it Out of Bounds, literal, proverbially and otherwise. 😊

Toronto skyline in color and paint 😁!

My take on a part of Toronto’s skyline, mini series continues…

I started with three pieces but thinking of making a few more, enjoying the process and cuteness of it all. 💕

Exploring different subjects and experimenting with texture and mediums on smaller canvases can be so much fun and I am just realizing all of that.

‘Happy Door’

This is the first one in my new Cottage Doors series. Sitting in the midst of this coldest winter season ever for me, my imagination is keeping the spring alive and vibrant in my heart and on this canvas, here’s to finding, opening and living merrily behind colorful doors!

This one is a tribute to all those summer seasons long past and to all those friends who lived those seasons with me in good (and often trying) times! You know who you all are 💕

A day late but here’s my end of the year post…2023 was a year of change for me on all fronts, a roller coaster ride of sorts but what an adventurous one it was!

My heart is full of gratitude for all that I have been given or challenged with in the past year, a journey of self discovery while building our lives in a new place from scratch…scary yet enriching, surrounded by a whole lot of care and concern of some beautiful family members and friends for whom I can never be grateful enough for!! 😁

Here’s to 2024, may we all stay happy and healthy and become a better version of our 2023 selves.

Journey of a 1000 brushstrokes continues…

As an artist there are a very few subjects which move me enough to lift my brush and recreate some version of em’ on canvas! Whirling dervishes have always been the top of the list for me, I absolutely love the idea, the rhythm, the movement, colors coming to life right in front of my eyes…my favorite sight in the whole wide world 💕

These are just a few that I have painted over the past months, most of these are adorning the walls of my very sweet collectors’ gorgeous homes and I am forever grateful for their admiration.

Here’s to painting many more over the coming months, whirling, kneeling, praying and sometimes just existing 💕.

Our Story

I am Tahira Ansari, a daughter, wife, mom, sister and a friend to some amazing people. I started this journey of creating art on furniture and canvas (came later on) 5 years ago. It was a point in my life where I was clueless, psychologically drained and trying to find my purpose.

A friend in Bahrain introduced me to chalk paint and from there on ‘Painted and more’ came into being!

I redo and restore forgotten pieces of furniture and create unique pieces of art on wood and canvas. My inspiration is mostly derived from people, nature and architecture that I come across mainly during my travels and on everyday basis.
