Baking brings me joy โœจ

After a dreary walk in the rain ๐Ÿ’ฆ, I decided a quick dessert was in order.

Are you familiar with Brownie Pudding? My mother and grandmother used to make it, and I love the simplicity.

For those who are unfamiliar, it's a cake with a pudding sauce underneath. But the real magic ๐Ÿช„ is that the cake is put in the bottom of the pan, then brown sugar mixed with cocoa and hot water are placed on top. You're convinced something is VERY wrong ๐Ÿ™ƒ. After 45 minutes, the cake rises to the top, and a luxurious sauce is underneath. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

โœจ Try it! โœจ

Brownie Pudding
1 cup sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp melted butter
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 3/4 cups hot water

- Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa, and salt. Mix in the milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Add chopped nuts. Pour into a greased 8"x8"x2" pan.
- Mix brown sugar with 1/4 cup cocoa. Spread evenly over the batter. Pour hot water over the sugar mixture.
- Bake in the oven at 350 deg F for 40 to 45 minutes.
- ENJOY!

I've always had a soft spot for sheep ๐Ÿ‘

This spring card features the Woolly Friends stamp set and I think this trio is adorable.

To give the sheep more dimension (and wool!) I used a cotton pad to stamp on instead of paper, then fussy cut out the sheep.

Blending brushes with a little ink provides a quick and easy background for my woolly friends.

This stamp set also has some adorable tulips and a little butterfly.

If this doesn't say spring ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ŸŒท ๐Ÿฆ‹ , I don't know what does!

I am compelled to say... this card came from my brain ๐Ÿง ! Small victories ๐Ÿ† !!!

๐Ÿ Bee Happy! ๐Ÿ

There's nothing like getting a thank you card in the mail ๐Ÿ’Œ

I love hearing from the recipients when they receive a card... it was for them, but it also brings me joy. ๐Ÿคฉ

Recently, I received a photo from my cousin of the card I had sent his wife, and she loved the card so much that she FRAMED it and put it on the wall. ๐Ÿคฏ

Since she loves bees ๐Ÿ , I knew I needed to make a few bee cards for her.

The retired Ladybug builder punch was perfect for creating most of these bees (using scraps!) plus the Bee Mine Valentine stamp set and punch created the cartoonish ones.

I hope she likes these cards, and sends them to her friends. Cards ๐Ÿ’Œ are meant to be shared and bring a smile to someone!

Have a hoppy Tuesday! ๐Ÿธ

Good People ๐Ÿคฉ

With all the turbulence in the world today, it's always good to be reminded that there are good people out there.

Long story short, my cousin's wife sent me a gift in January to remind me of my visit. I wasn't expecting anything until she asked if I'd picked up the parcel.

No.... what parcel ๐Ÿ“ฆ ? The shipping confirmation showed that it had been delivered. Hmmmm.

Then I asked what address she had sent it to... turns out it was our previous house ๐Ÿ  that we moved out of 19 years ago ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

At this point, I don't have much to lose. I sent a handwritten letter (in a card, of course) to my old house, explaining what had happened. I left my contact information and crossed my fingers.

Less than a week later, I got a text from the recipient saying they still have my parcel ๐Ÿ“ฆ! They didn't want to return it to Canada Post because they were worried it would never get to me.

Apparently, they've also received Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ cards from my cousin and his wife.

I feel so fortunate that this family held on to the package long enough for me to reach out and pick it up.

Here's Angus, the Highland Cow ๐Ÿฎ Hot Water Bottle.

Let's spread more positivity in this world! โœจ

Spring is here at last! ๐ŸŒฟ

Here's a vibrant card I created as a swap to celebrate the arrival of spring ๐ŸŒˆ

I combined the Greenery Lane bundle with the Paradise Garden suite, and I love the embossed leaves ๐ŸŒฟ. I made the dark green leaf using the Garden Textures foil. It adds a little sparkle โœจ to the card.

This layout is very simple:
* 2" x 4" embossed layer
* 2" x 4" designer series paper or stamped cardstock
* 1" x 4" cardstock with sentiment
* 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" layer (optional)
* 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock base

Embellish โœจ as desired!

Curious about the supplies? A list is shown in the comments.

โœจ Sunday Tip - Organize Your Reinkers โœจ

If you struggle to find the right re-inker in a sea of little bottles that all look the same, try this quick and easy tip:

* Using a hole punch and the coordinating cardstock, create little colour ๐ŸŒˆ dots and attach to the top of your ink bottles.
* Glue dots are the perfect size for the little circles
* Use cardboard cut 2 1/2" tall to separate the colour families (Brights, Regals, Subtles, Neutrals, and In Colours)

Now they're all lined up neatly, and I'll be able to find them quickly ๐Ÿ˜€

During the winter โ„๏ธ months, I find my ink pads are a bit dry, and I think it's weather-related. Re-inkers to the rescue!

There are also lots of fun techniques that use re-inkers (baby wipe ink pad, mixing into embossing paste, painting with Wink of Stella ๐Ÿคฉ...)

It's best to buy the re-inker at the same time as the ink pad, so you don't have to worry about it later.

Or you can be like me and find that you have TWO Strawberry Slush ๐Ÿ“ ink pads & TWO re-inkers... oops! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

How do you store your re-inkers?

'Tis the season to send cards, and remind those around us that we're thinking of them. ๐Ÿ’ž

I confess that I didn't send cards out last year... and I regret it, but we have to give ourselves grace. ๐ŸŽ„

This year, the cards are going out! The last ones are hitting the post office today and many more went out last week. ๐Ÿ“ซ This is later than I would have liked but better late than never. ๐Ÿ™ƒ
My box of Christmas cards still has a few left, ready for next year. I enjoy looking back at my previous creations.

Have a hoppy holiday! ๐Ÿธ

Hereโ€™s my final Winter Scenes cardโ€ฆ. Itโ€™s a special one!

A mountainside ๐Ÿ”๏ธ was created with many layers of embossed cardstock and torn white cardstock. A stunning night sky was easily added using the Peaceful Garden glimmer โœจ paper. The mini trees ๐ŸŒฒ are from the Light and Wonder dies.

Each element builds on the next. Wink of Stella โœจadds a subtle shine to the ripped snow banks. Donโ€™t be afraid to rip your cardstock!

Thanks to Linda Nye for the inspiration ๐Ÿ’ก

Hereโ€™s a different take on the Winter Scenes โ›ฐ๏ธstamp set. Create a landscape using your imagination and colour away! You can keep it simple or go all out, itโ€™s up to you.

Using blending brushes for the sky gives a nice soft feel. A gold frame around the image provides a touch of elegance.

Thanks to Jennifer Everidge for the idea. ๐Ÿ’ก

Simple stamping can be beautiful ๐Ÿคฉ

Have a hoppy day! ๐Ÿธ
