Last night in Yorkville was all about art, inspiration, and meaningful conversations.
I had the chance to attend an exhibition featuring works by Mykola Zhuravel and see pieces by Jean-Michel Basquiat. I’ve always loved art that makes you stop, look deeper, and feel something beyond the visual.
Evenings like this always leave behind a special atmosphere.

Salone del Mobile & Milan Design Week 2026 left a strong impression on me.
Not only because of trends, but because of the way design is experienced in real life through light, materials, proportions, atmosphere, and details.
Trends change quickly.
But understanding how spaces actually feel, function, and affect people emotionally is what truly defines meaningful design. Salone del Mobile.Milano milan.design.week Visionnaire Miele

Designing Ephyr Boutique was about more than aesthetics.
Every material, texture, curve, and detail was selected to shape the atmosphere and customer experience of the space.
From limewashed surfaces and sculptural forms to custom displays and integrated details, the boutique was designed as a calm, contemporary environment for discovering niche fragrances.

Poliform Trends 2026 at Milan Design Week

This year’s interiors move further away from stark minimalism toward warmer palettes, tonal layering, sculptural forms, and hospitality-inspired living.
Some of the strongest directions seen throughout the collections:

• Integrated shelving with concealed lighting
• Monolithic forms and expressive wood veneers
• Precision detailing over visible ornament
• High-gloss accent finishes
• Patina mirror walls
• Rich tonal layering through velvet upholstery
• Stone surfaces paired with warm leather tones
• Linear suspended lighting and softened oval forms
• Oversized mirrors and sculptural seating
• High-gloss off-white furniture against textural surfaces
The overall direction feels warmer, softer, moodier, and more architectural, while maintaining the precision and restraint Italian design is known for.

Kitchen Trends 2026 from Poliform at Milan Design Week

This year’s kitchens feel warmer, more architectural, and deeply connected to everyday living. The kitchen is no longer just a functional space. It’s becoming the visual and emotional center of the home.

Here are some of the strongest trends I noticed during Milan Design Week:

1. Bold veined stone replaces quiet minimalism
2. Thin shelves bring visual lightness
3. Integrated pulls continue to dominate
4. Hidden appliances behind pocket doors
5. Dark wood veneers remain timeless
6. Wood veneer sitting areas recessed into stone countertops
7. Professional-style hoods bring restaurant-level presence into kitchens
8. Stainless steel islands became this year’s boldest kitchen statement
9. Display upper cabinets and integrated storage solutions
10. Thick countertops create contrast against slim kitchen lines
11. Floating slim-edge islands contrast with substantial stone worktops
12. Illuminated fluted glass cabinets turn kitchens into glowing feature walls
13. Contemporary pantry walls now blend storage, appliances, and display into one composition

At Okomoko Interiors, we continuously study international design trends and innovative solutions to create kitchens that are not only beautiful, but highly functional and tailored to real everyday living.

The best kitchens are no longer just about aesthetics. They shape how we cook, gather, move, and experience home. .design.week .interiors

Some installations during Milan Design Week feel more like an experience than an object, and “Origin” by Audi and Zaha Hadid Architects was definitely one of them.

Set inside the historic courtyard of Portrait Milano, the installation created a striking dialogue between futuristic form and classical architecture. The fluid metallic structure constantly changed with the light, reflections, and shadows throughout the day, making the entire space feel alive.

What stood out to me most was the atmosphere. Despite its scale and bold form, the installation felt calm and almost meditative, a quiet pause in the middle of the energy and overload of Design Week.

A beautiful example of how design can shape emotion, not just space.

Il Giardino delle Meraviglie, Brera
Milan Design Week
A living archive of outdoor design - tracing its evolution from the 1920s to today.
Curated by Studio Francesca Santambrogio, the exhibition brings together iconic names like Gio Ponti and Vico Magistretti alongside contemporary designers, turning the space into a quiet journey through ideas, materials, and time.
Set within the historic San Simpliciano complex, where centuries-old architecture becomes part of the design experience. .design.week

Palazzo Litta never disappoints… but this felt like stepping inside a dream.

Full Metal Banquet
by

A baroque fantasy, reimagined through something completely unexpected: industrial waste. Metal mesh leftovers transformed into delicate, almost weightless forms. From an abstract cloud of fibers, the installation unfolds into ornamental details, a fully dressed ceremonial table, sculptural armchairs, even a dress… all shimmering between art and design.

There’s something powerful in this contrast. Raw material turned into something poetic. Waste becoming beauty.

And the entire exhibition at Palazzo Litta continues this dialogue. Historic interiors layered with bold, experimental installations. Craft meets concept. Tradition meets future. Each room feels like a different story, but together they create one immersive experience.

Also, such a nice surprise to meet my old friend, the talented Ukrainian designer . So fun to spend some time together during Milan Design Week 🤍

This is why Milan Design Week hits different. It’s not just about objects. It’s about emotion, transformation, and how far design can go.

At Villa Necchi Campiglio, design feels almost suspended in time.

Built in the 1930s by architect Piero Portaluppi, this villa was ahead of its era, with a private pool, tennis court and technologies that felt futuristic at the time.

But what makes it even more special is how many stories it holds.

Scenes from House of Gucci were filmed here, and walking through the villa, it almost feels like stepping into a movie set. Quiet, cinematic, perfectly composed.

The space also has a strong connection to fashion. Giorgio Armani once chose this villa for a show during Milan Fashion Week, a reminder that true design doesn’t compete, it elevates.

During Milan Design Week, Gaggenau fits into this narrative effortlessly.

Founded in 1683 in Germany, Gaggenau began as a metalworks and evolved into one of the most refined kitchen appliance brands in the world. Often referred to as the choice of professional chefs, it is known for its precision engineering, understated aesthetics and uncompromising approach to materials.

There is nothing excessive in their design. Everything feels intentional, almost architectural.

Grateful to Gaggenau for the exclusive invitation.
