I’m inviting you to bring a snack|amuse-bouche from your montreal|native country|culture to the vernissage tomorrow that you would like to share with everyone. Make sure you have the ingredient list written down or visible. So that everyone can eat, we are encouraging to bring more vegan and gluten free options, although meat and other snacks, food are also acceptable.

The vernissage will also be sponsored by Zamalek which I’m grateful for and Salaam Cola Moral Munch for alcohol free options ✨
There will be wine as well.

Hi my name is Josepha Dumas, I am a Haitian-French multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Pétion-ville Haiti until the age of 11 years old. Then I immigrated to Miami in the United States then in Sarrebrücken in Germany. I live in Montreal, Qc Canada since 2013.

I want to personally invite you to my first solo exhibition happening at the gallery McClure in Westmount. The opening will take place on September 3rd from 6-8pm.
I hope to see you there!

On the same day I wil be doing my ceremony for the Canadian citizenship so after 13 years I’m super exited.

My show is called Where the roads meet, and explores theme of immigration, displacement, hybrid identity and landscapes, moving from time and place and seasons. So everywhere at once like nowhere at the same time.

Bonjour, je m’appelle Josepha Dumas. Je suis une artiste pluridisciplinaire franco-haïtienne, née et ayant grandi à Pétion-Ville, en Haïti, jusqu’à l’âge de 11 ans. J’ai ensuite immigré à Miami, aux États-Unis, puis à Sarrebruck, en Allemagne. Je vis à Montréal, au Québec, au Canada, depuis 2013.

Je souhaite vous inviter personnellement à ma toute première exposition solo, qui aura lieu à la Galerie McClure, à Westmount. Le vernissage se tiendra le 3 septembre, de 18 h à 20 h. J’espère vraiment vous y voir !

Le même jour, je participerai également à ma cérémonie de citoyenneté canadienne. Alors, après 13 ans, je suis vraiment très excitée ! ❤️

Mon exposition s’intitule « Where the Roads Meet » / « Là où les routes se croisent ». Elle explore les thèmes de l’immigration, du déplacement, de l’identité hybride et des paysages, en voyageant à travers le temps, les lieux et les saisons.

C’est donc l’idée d’être partout à la fois, comme nulle part en même temps.

How it’s going so far 🎈🧸🪁

Still not done but getting there.
Here are some details of my most recent painting: a portrait-landscape of my 5 year old nephew Saiik and it’s part of a series of a total of 6 portrait-landscapes paintings of some of my family members.

Each painting will be done and created in the perspective of the person I’m representing… so I’ll be exploring with style, colors, brush-work, props, and composition based on their age and day-to-day interest/hobbies.

Some behind the scenes of my process of my new painting…. Having fun with this one, more so since it’s a portrait-landscape of my five year old nephew Saiik so I’ve been enjoying seeing life through a five years old’s perspective 🎈
Also as you can see I mostly sing while I’m painting.
