Katharina Husslein, a German artist renowned for her hyperrealistic artworks, captures the essence of vibrant bouquets and lush impasto landscapes through oil paintings. Raised in a charming village surrounded by nature's splendor in the South of Germany, she embarked on a journey of artistic exploration by pursuing studies in London, UK. This immersion in a diverse cultural milieu broadened her creative vistas and allowed her to refine her artistic expressions. Her global sojourns, including stints in California, Australia, and New York, not only honed her skills but also provided invaluable insights into the art market.
Since 2019, Katharina Husslein has called Munich home.
Her artistic footprint extends across Europe, with exhibitions gracing prominent cities such as London, Amsterdam, Basel and Hamburg. Additionally, her work has been showcased in Los Angeles, USA, garnering a widespread and international collector base.
Husslein's artistic philosophy marries a reverence for classical masterpieces with the immersive allure of contemporary still life and botany. Her signature style is characterized by meticulous hyperrealism, particularly evident in her still-life floral compositions. Central to her creations are the visual and tactile attributes of flowers, intertwined with their symbolism evoking themes of love, femininity, and the natural world. These elements coalesce to fashion Husslein's vivacious and captivating compositions.
In her artistic process, Husslein encapsulates the transient ecstasy of a fleeting moment, often when flowers are resplendent in full bloom. Her canvases frequently orchestrate an array of botanical species, harmoniously coexisting within a vase, transcending the boundaries of temporal accuracy. Rather than fixating on botanical fidelity, her oeuvres spotlight the interplay of colors, illumination, textures, and intricate minutiae, which collectively imbue her works with an enigmatic allure, captivating the observer.
Husslein as a painter of flowers - like the poet or even the botanist - chooses the subject for her art, as more than just a thing of beauty designed for appeal to the eye. Flowers are instead, a multidimensional subject which lends itself to a variety of artistic sensibilities. The flower is beautiful, but it is also a vital organism, an embodiment of nature and a fact of science, as well as a potent vehicle for symbolism - it can stand for love, is used in different religions for various gods and ultimately for peace amongst many others.

We want to welcome to the Galerie Normal the Master of Hard Knocks School of Arts:

Gregory Malphurs
I guess you could say I grew up in art.
As a kid, I spent countless hours in my grandfather's studio on Miami Beach. He was a portrait painter with a storefront right there on the beach. He did a portrait of JFK that is in the White House collection. He also drank scotch and smoked cigs with Frank Sinatra while painting his portrait too.

My grandfather, Boompa we called him, set me free in the studio. Whatever materials or subjects I wanted to explore were there for me. Not to mention his epic collection of art books. Through which I learned all I needed to know about human anatomy - especially the Beardsley book.

My parents were ultra religious and art was my refuge. It’s not an exaggeration to say it saved my life by giving me purpose.

I grew up between two opposing worlds—strict control and complete freedom. In one, truth was dictated. In the other, it was lived. I learned early that what we’re told to believe and what actually feels true don’t always match. That tension never left me.

I've been drawing and painting professionally for over 30 years and my work is collected all over the world including the United States, Europe, South America and Australia.

I work and live in Joshua Tree.

We want to welcome to Galerie Normal Artist called TOMO,
TOMO is a Toronto-based contemporary artist who bridges the gap between sequential art and fine art. With a professional background in graphic design, he translates the kinetic energy of comic books into structured, large-scale gallery works.

His practice is rooted in the visual language of the 1970s through the 2000s. By focusing on the linework and graphic mastery of that era, TOMO preserves the integrity of original comic illustrations while recontextualizing them through hand-painted textures and high-contrast compositions. The result is a mature interpretation of modern mythology that moves the medium from the page to the canvas.

Each piece is a fine art study of the source material, designed to preserve and pay homage to, yet elevate classic comic aesthetics into a contemporary fine art space.

TOMO’s work is held in private collections across North America, Asia, and Europe, as he continues to explore the evolution of comic art in a gallery context.

Galerie Normal welcome to the family Supmanee Chaisansuk:
Supmanee's Art Statement
"My artwork is inspired by nature because of my immediate and personal experiences. My home is a local house located in the central business district of Bangkok. It is surrounded by a naturally green area and ecology that cultivates my desire to appreciate the beauty of nature. I’m always eager to zoom in on patterns of wildlife such as trees, herbs, fungus, stones, flowers, and all kind of small creatures. I feel at peace and impressed when I look at the gorgeous life, so they became my source of inspiration. Water media technique has been my method of choice for creating my art since I was young, perhaps because of the sense of flowing that watercolor gives, mirroring the way water moves in nature, free, mixing everything in its way, like the colors mix on the palette. This approach generates a conceptual, semi-abstract style that works as an experiment to link color patterns in nature with the mind. My impressions from the natural environment that surrounds me blend with my subconscious and trigger my imagination, which I put to the service of art to communicate my feelings with honesty and integral passion."
